Louise E. French

August 21, 1924 - September 04, 2016

Louise Elizabeth French was born August 24, 1924 to Charles and Appolonia (Wirtzberger) Meyer. She grew up in Westby, Montana with eight brothers and sisters. She married the love of her life, Wilfred “Jumbo” French in Norman, OK on June 21, 1944. They were married for 65 wonderful years. Louise loved her family and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her passion was sharing and giving to family, friends and neighbors. She enjoyed bowling, fishing and baking, and was known for her fabulous orange rolls. Louise was a long time member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Flaxville, Montana where she served as sacristan, Eucharistic minister, and was a member of the church choir and Altar Society. She also served as a religious education teacher there for many years, sharing her strong faith with children. Her service and dedication to the church could be seen in the beautiful floral arrangements and other decorations she created.

Louise is survived by her daughters, Tammy (Curt) Kaufman of Hillsboro, ND; Susan (Kenny) Ferestad of Scobey, MT; and Marlene French of Billings, MT; grandchildren Cory (Megan) Kaufman, Cassandra (Travis) Skar, Adam (Rachel) Kaufman, Christa Lavey and fiancé Justin McGrand, Gregory Lavey and Kyle Kaufman; and great grandchildren Caleb, Evan & Dylan Kaufman, Clay & Carson Skar, Neal & Amelia Kaufman, and Lincoln McGrand. She is also survived by a sister Charlotte French and brothers Gene, Hugh, and Marv Meyer. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter Kay, and sisters Beatrice and Rita, brothers Jerome and Clifford.

  2. Shelley Olson, Rita's daughter says:

I have such fond memories of my Aunt Louise, who was also my Godmother when I was baptized. My visits to Flaxville were a highlight of my time spent in northeastern Montana. I loved Aunt Louise’s sense of calm, her abundant hospitality, her loyalty, her commitment to God, and her gift of presence for whoever she was with. She has passed these qualities on to her beautiful children.
