Ludwina M. Schreder, age 92, Detroit Lakes, MN, died Wednesday, December 1, 2004, in Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes.
Ludwina Matilda Walerius was born in Pierz, MN, on February 4, 1912, the daughter of Henry and Hannah (Tholkes) Walerius. She lived there until she was seven years old. The family then moved to a farm near Munich, ND, where Ludwina grew up and attended school. She was united in marriage to Frank Schreder on November 8, 1932 in Munich, ND. They moved to Enderlin, ND. Mr. Schreder passed away on November 12, 1936, in Enderlin. Ludwina then attended cosmetology school in Fargo, and worked as a beautician in Sarles, ND, and Munich. She was also employed as a postal clerk at the Munich Post Office for many years. She moved to Riverview Place in Fargo in 2001, and to Emmanuel Nursing Home in November of this year.
She is survived by one son, Francis (Maureen) Schreder of Detroit Lakes, MN; one daughter, Bernetta (Ambrose) Ruchotzke of Camanche, IA; two brothers, Leander (Mary) Walerius of El Cajon, CA, and Leo (Helyn) Walerius of West Fargo, ND; one sister-in-law, Sister Jane Frances Schreder of Fargo; eight grandchildren; one step grandchild; 13 great grandchildren; and three step great grandchildren.
The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. in Riverview Place Chapel, Fargo. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.
