Lyla Erickson

Lyla E. Erickson, 94, formerly of Kindred, ND died December 24, 2007 at Riverview Place, Fargo, ND. Lyla was born to Andrew & Lizzie (Magenton) Bakko on May 5, 1913, in Walcott, ND. She was educated and graduated from Walcott High School, Walcott, ND and attended Valley City State Teacher?s College, Valley City, ND. She taught in rural schools in Cass, Richland and Cavalier counties in North Dakota. Lyla married Theander O. Erickson in Walcott Lutheran Church on October 16, 1938. They farmed in Richland County, near Kindred. He died June 9, 1944 after a brief illness from encephalitis. She moved into Kindred in September 1944. Lyla was employed at Evingson Store for a short time and the Kindred State Bank for several years as assistant cashier, retiring in 1984. She moved to Fargo in 1996 and to Riverview Place in 2002. She was a member of Gol Lutheran Church, rural Kindred and the Gol WELCA. She was also a charter member of the Wild Rose Club of Kindred. She had held offices in these organizations. She is survived by her children: Margaret L. (Robert) Capley, Chula Vista, CA, Kermit A. (Lynn) Erickson, Bellevue, NE; grandchildren: Ramona (John) Cunningham, Hector, NY, Monica (Derrick) Araki, Chula Vista, CA, Kimberly (Leo) Reyes, Strathmore, CA, Todd (Natalie) Erickson, Louisville, CO, Rebecca (Andrew) Pulte, Knoxville, TN; great grandchild: Kailey Araki, Chula Vista, CA; sisters: Marian Heglie, Fargo, ND, Pearl Frosaker, Fargo, ND; and sister-in-law: Irene Erickson, Kindred, ND. She was preceded is death by her parents; husband; sisters: Gladys Larson and Beatrice Sorbel. The Funeral Service for Lyla will be on December 28, 2007 at Riverview Place, Fargo, ND at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Burial will be at Gol Lutheran Cemetery, Kindred, ND. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Riverview Place or Gol Cemetery.
