M. Gail Ronning

M. Gail Ronning, 71, of West Fargo, ND, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, August 19, 2009. Gail was born on December 24, 1937 in Wolverton, MN, to Leroy and Mildred Shirley. Gail grew up and attended school in Wolverton, MN. On October 26, 1957 Gail was united in marriage to Curtis Ronning of Kindred, ND. They lived on a farm outside of Christine for 37 years. In 1993 they moved to Fargo, and in 2004 they moved to West Fargo. Gail worked for Bell Telephone and then became a full time mother and homemaker. She also was a nanny in Fargo after her own kids were grown. Gail had a fun personality and liked to make people laugh. Gail had a very strong faith in the Lord. She belonged to Christine Lutheran Church for many years and then transferred to Atonement Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Eagle Homemakers Club for over 20 years and a member of the Red Hat Lady Society. She was looking forward to the upcoming wedding of her grandson Jason to Hannah. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and loved to spend time with her husband, children, grandchildren and her many friends. She will be deeply missed. Gail is survived by her husband of 52 years, Curt Ronning; children, Kim (Tom) Ferree and their children: Alyssa, Tyler and Jacob of Schererville, IN ; Kristi (Keith) Allen and their children: Jason (fiancé, Hannah O’Harra and daughter Ava), Ashley (fiancé, Dan Florhaug) and Emily of Christine ND; Kirk (Lisa) Ronning and their children: Laura, Krysta and Noah of West Fargo, ND; Kraig Ronning (Kristy Thompson) of Fargo, ND; father-in-law, Joe Ronning of Fargo, ND; brother, Curt (Jean) Shirley of Roseau, MN; sisters, Mary (Jim) Sopp of Portland OR; Diane Swenson of Casper WY; brother-in-law, Sam Piro of Portland OR; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Gail was proceeded in death by her parents; mother-in-law, Esther Ronning; sisters, Bev Piro; Jane (Merle) Fahleen; Katie (Gale) Schaffer; brothers, Lowell (Alice) Shirley; Larry (Pat) Shirley; brother- in-law, Marv Swenson; and sister-in-law, Diane Shirley. Visitation: Sunday, August 23 2009 from 4:00 - 6:00 pm with a Prayer Service at 6:00 pm at Atonement Lutheran Church, Fargo, North Dakota. Funeral: Monday, August 24, 2009 at 11:00 am at Atonement Lutheran Church. Interment: Perhus Cemetery rural Kindred, ND following lunch at Atonement.
