Madelyn was born May 28, 1920, the daughter of Celestine (Klontz) and Mathias (Frank) Fritz. She was the one of fifteen brothers and sisters. Madelyn became Miss Fargo in her late teens. She married John A. Malone and in 1945 had one son, Michael Patrick Malone.

May 28th Madelyn celebrated her 98th birthday with family at JL Beers which was a favorite spot for her to visit. The dinner was followed by a large gathering of family and friends at Good Samaritan with much laughter and merriment as was characteristic of Madelyn.

She is survived by her son, CMDR Michael Malone, USN Retired; her daughter-in-law, Sharon Malone, M.D.; grandchildren, Mike and Kimberly, three great-grandchildren Madison, Braydon, Bayleigh; and her brother, Sylvester (Bud) Fritz of Fargo.
