Madelyn Olivia Stringer, 98, Fargo, ND passed away on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Essentia Health in Fargo. Madelyn was born May 28, 1920, the daughter of Celestine (Klontz) and Mathias (Frank) Fritz. She was the one of fifteen brothers and sisters. Madelyn became Miss Fargo in her late teens. She married John A. Malone and in 1945 had one son, Michael Patrick Malone. In 1962 Madelyn married Louie A. Stringer in Los Angeles, California. While living in Los Angeles she worked as a bookkeeper. She and Lou later moved to Quitman, Arkansas where they purchased a feed mill and later a meat packing plant. In 1982 Madelyn returned to Fargo to be close to family. She served as a receptionist at the Village Family Service Center. Later she was the House Mother for the NDSU Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity. She loved each and every one of them and remained a passionate Bison fan throughout her life. May 28th Madelyn celebrated her 98th birthday with family at JL Beers which was a favorite spot for her to visit. The dinner was followed by a large gathering of family and friends at Good Samaritan with much laughter and merriment as was characteristic of Madelyn. She is survived by her son, CMDR Michael Malone, USN Retired; her daughter-in-law, Sharon Malone, M.D.; grandchildren, Mike and Kimberly, three great-grandchildren Madison, Braydon, Bayleigh; and her brother, Sylvester (Bud) Fritz of Fargo. She was preceded in death by her parents; and 13 siblings. There will be a funeral service at 2:00 PM on Monday, June 11, 2018 at Boulger Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center, Fargo with a visitation one hour prior. The family would like to thank the staff of Good Samaritan Society for their exceptional compassion, friendship, and care during Madelyn’s last years.

  1. I will never forget when Madelyn came for her interview at Alpha Gamma Rho bringing homemade pies. How could we not hire her!!! What a Wonderful Lady who touched the hearts of the brothers of Alpha Gamma Rho. .
