Major Harold Baugh
March 11, 1938 ~ December 4, 2018
Harold Gray Baugh, age 80, was promoted to glory after a brief battle with cancer on Tuesday December 4, 2018 attended by his loving wife.
Harold was born on March 11, 1938 in Jonesboro, Arkansas, to parents James Marion and Rosalie Eleanor (Yetter) Baugh. He joined the US Army in 1958 serving 1 year in Korea before being stationed in Chicago, Ill where he met and married Ruby Aleene Williams in 1960. After his discharge from the Army, Harold worked for Western Union in Missouri, Michigan, and Illinois and over the next decade their family grew to include 5 children.
Harold’s life was one of service to others. Whether it was to his country, his family or the community, he put the needs of others before his own and followed where God led. A man of deep religious faith, he and his wife felt the call to serve as Officers in The Salvation Army and in 1972 they returned to Chicago to attend the School for Officers Training. They were ordained in 1974 and over the next 40+ years faithfully served in The Salvation Army throughout the central and upper Midwest.
In his quiet moments, Harold most loved being a Grandpa and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were the light of his life and he would do anything for them.
Harold is survived by his wife, Ruby Aleene (Williams), 5 children, daughter Deborah (Nelson) De La Vergne of Waukesha, WI, son Gary (Sandra) Baugh of Arlington, TX, son William Baugh of Fargo, ND, daughter Catherine Baugh of Minneapolis MN, son Donald (Shannon) Baugh of Fargo, ND, 7 grandchildren, Leah Rumsey, Joy McEachern, Crystal Baugh, Joanna Baugh, Andrew Franks, Megan Baugh, Ian Baugh and 3 great grandchildren Micah Rumsey, Abigal Rumsey, Sadie McEachern.
Visitation from 6pm to 8pm on Friday, December 7, 2018 at Boulger Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center in Fargo, ND. Funeral services will be held at 2pm Saturday, December 8, at Boulger funeral home with visitation one hour before the funeral.
A reception will be held at The Salvation Army in Fargo, ND after the service on Saturday. All are welcome to attend.

My deepest sympathy goes out to the family of Major Baugh.
Words cannot what he meant to me. In a world of not enough Godly man, he shined in the category. I met him 28 years ago when he and his wife were sent to Fargo. He lead by example with few words, he stood in line with the people in the feeding program and then sat at their table. I will never forget him.
He was my favorite uncle he married me and my wife 1974 we lived with the Baughs in Jacksonville il I love them both

He was like a second father to me, he cared deeply about people and never held grudges or cast judgement. Major I will never forget you, thank you for everything you have done for me and for leading by example. Im heartbroken writing this and still can’t believe your gone. Rip you’ll never be forgotten
Condolences to my aunt and family on the passing of my beloved uncle..he will be missed..he is up wit god and my mom and dad rejoicing over the wonderful life he has given to us..I love u uncle Harold.
I loved uncle Harold with all my heart. He will always be in my thoughts as well as my heart.
He will always have a special place in my heart. He is one of the most kindest wonderful person I have known one of the reasons I stayed at the Salvation Army. You will be greatly missed Major Baugh!!!
Major Baugh was a Christian man. He was a compassionate man and he loved his family.
I am missing him. He treated me like a daughter.

I was saddened to hear of your loss, and I like many other realize you have loss a blessing from God.
I am praying for you and your family to get through this time with the peace that comes from the knowledge that God loves you and He will take care of you at this difficult time. I pray that God continuing presence will be ever present and will strengthen you and your family.
I am so sorry, but I know where he is. It was great seeing y’all when you came to visit a few years ago. “Uncle” Harold was always fun to be around. I remember with fondness all the times mom and dad would load us up in the car to come visit. I will continue to pray that God will stay close during your time of grief.
I am saddened by Major Harold’s sudden illness and death but am sure he was indeed “promoted to glory.” He trusted, followed and served the Lord Jesus faithfully, both personally and vocationally, and humbly shared Jesus’ love in word and deed with countless people in countless ways before, between and after hiring my mom to work at the SA corps in Fargo in 1997 and officiating at my dad’s funeral in 2012. Like so many others, I admired and appreciated Major Harold greatly and will now miss him greatly too.
We were session mates (seminary students) in 1972-1974, with Harold & Ailene. We loved their family & knew that God would use them in marvelous ways! Harold was a gentle soul and a gentleman…he will be dearly missed! Thank you Baugh Family for sharing your husband, your Dad, your Grandpa & your Great-Grandpa with all of us. You are in our thoughts & prayers!
I’m sorry to hear of Major Baughs passing but I’m happy he is no longer suffering. He’s left a legacy of love, kindness, and compassion, and I’m so glad I had the opportunity to witness his constant faith. Love and prayers to you all in this difficult time.
Major Baugh has always been aan who thought of others. He was truly a man of God. I will miss his hugs and phone calls. My prayers are with Mrs. Baugh and their lovely family.
