Mardell Svaleson, 75, of Hillsboro died Tuesday, April 7 in her home.
Mardell Pearl Svaleson was born March 30, 1934 at Northwood, ND to Christ and Martha (Monson) Landa. She grew up and attended country school at Reynolds, ND. On June 1, 1953 she married Elmer Svaleson at Zion Lutheran Church in Reynolds, ND. She worked at the Deaconess Hospital, Grand Forks, the Hillsboro Nursing Home, and Luther Memorial Home in Mayville as a CNA. She also cooked for Traill County Senior Services.
Mardell is survived by one daughter and four sons ? Myrtle (James) Baukol of Hillsboro; Richard (Diane) Svaleson of Fargo; Kenneth (Bobby) Svaleson of Hillsboro; Kevin (Chris) Svaleson of Keene, ND; and Kris (Rebecca) of Fargo; 13 grandchildren; 2 sisters and one brother ? Myrtle Dean of Temecula, CA; Gladys Gunderson of Buxton; and Lloyd Landa of Mayville and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer, her parents, 5 brothers – Truman, Claris, Sanford, Ardell (her twin brother) and Victor; 1 sister Irene and two granddaughters Angela and Robin Svaleson.
Services will be at Our Savior?s Lutheran Church at 3 PM Friday, April 10, 2009.
All her grandchildren shall be considered honorary pallbearers.
Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Hillsboro.
