Margaret Blazek

Margaret M. Blazek, 87, died peacefully under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley at Villa Maria.
Peg O’Brien was born on May 20, 1926 in Fargo, ND to William J and Elizabeth (Doherty) O’Brien. She attended St. Mary’s School and Sacred Heart Academy. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics from the Ag College ND (now NDSU). Later she earned a Master’s Degree in Family Life Education from Wayne State University, Detroit MI.
She was a wonderful teacher, mainly Junior High Home Economics, in Madison Heights and Royal Oak, MI.
After retirement she was active in Mental Health America ND and Presentation Associates.
Peg is survived by her son David and daughter Mary. She was preceded in death by her parents, William J and Elizabeth O’Brien, husband John, brother William V, and sister Joanne.
Memorials are preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley.

I was saddened to hear about Peg. I know that God is watching over you through these times and always will be there when needed and when we don’t need him. Peg always had a kind word to say and was very friendly and always dressed nice. I have thought often of you three and will more with prayers.

Peg lived in Twin Towers for many years and served its association in many, many ways through the years and will be greatly missed. She must have seen her mission here to serve all around her. My deepest sympathy to all her family and friends and all whom she touched.

I was able to care for Peg for a little over 2 years. It was a blessing to be there for Peg, she always had a great big smile for me. It was usually on Thursday that I was there and help her get ready, it was her hair day and I brought her over to Riverview, because that is where her hairdresser was. She always looked forward to this, then she could visit with friends after she was done. We had a many good visits. She loved her children. Dave would call and say hello to his mom and then had to go, but knowing his mom was there meant a lot to him. Mary would pick her mom up after getting her hair done and then they would go out to eat. They liked going to Nicole’s Place. She will dearly be missed. Peg had a heart of gold.
St. Petersburg, FLoridaPeggy was my friend and mentor in all things when I began student teaching at the age of 41. I loved her and her two children, Mary and Dave. She was a catalyst for my growth in the Christian faith, and I have thanked her many times for this. No one loved their children more than Peggy loved hers, and they knew it. I will miss knowing she is on this earth, but I will see her again. God bless you and comfort you, Mary and Dave.

I was a caregiver for Peg through Home Instead Senior care for a couple of years. She was such a sweetheart & a delight to work with. I would have my normal routine of getting her breakfast ready: yogurt with fruit, toast, & don’t forget the tea! She loved her tea! I always enjoyed our chats at the table, while she was eating her breakfast, on various topics, but what she enjoyed talking about the most was her love of family, especially her children (Mary & Dave) & her love of God. She is the sweetest soul you’ll ever meet & I know that everyone that knew her, loved her. She never spoke bad about anyone & she knew that everyone was one of God’s children – She definitely conveyed that to me. She was like a grandmother to me & I’m grateful to have known her for a small part of my life. She blessed me with her love. I will truly miss visiting her and seeing her sweet smile & the sound of her laughter because she had a positive outlook on life. Heaven gained an angel & I know she will be watching over her children from Heaven above. She will be missed, but will always be remembered. God’s peace.

(MHAND). She served many volunteer hours over several years. She also served as an advisor and mentor to me in my position as MHAND staff.
