Obituary

Marie (Perius) Flynn, 93, West Fargo, died Friday, November 30, 2018 at Sheyenne Crossings in West Fargo, ND.

Marie Flynn was born to Ignatius and Mae Perius on a farm near Wales, North Dakota on April 26, 1925. She was the fifth of nine children in a faith-filled, hardworking family. Marie attended Valley City State Teachers College and after teaching six years, moved to California where she received a BA in Education at San Jose State University and taught 2 years in Monterey. She then entered Government Service and traveled to Europe where she spent three years teaching in Salzburg, Austria and Darmstadt, Germany. She traveled extensively throughout Europe during this time. After returning to the U.S. Marie settled in Long Beach, California, completed her masters degree, and ultimately taught seventeen years. During this time she married Tom Flynn and their children Maureen and Patrick were born. When Marie and Tom retired they moved to Coarse Gold, California, and five years later to McCormick Woods, Washington. After her husband’s passing, Marie and Patrick moved to West Fargo where they have lived since 1999.

Marie is preceded in death also by her daughter, Maureen Crilly; siblings, Howard, Glen and Allen Perius, Viola Meyerdirk and Geneva DeBord. She is survived by her son, Patrick and grandchildren, Marie, Tom, Angus, and Declan Crilly; siblings Deacon James Perius, Patricia Robbins, Marilyn Varney, as well as a number of treasured nieces and nephews. Marie will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. Her primary legacy is an abiding faith in God in the Catholic Tradition, which was the cornerstone of her life. Marie has been blessed in being surrounded by loving family, friends and her faith community. She is also grateful for the support and spiritual guidance provided by Hospice of the Red River Valley. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Catholic Charities of North Dakota or Hospice or the Red River Valley.

My heart-felt sympathy on your loss of Marie, however you have not lost her…this is only an interruption of your relationship with her. Afterall, you know exactly where she is…Marie is experiencing the Joy of Christ’s presence in Heaven. Heaven just keeps getting better as it received another angel! My heart is reaching out to you with sympathy, sorrow & prayer.

I will truly miss you Aunt Marie. two memories…when she yelled at me & my brother for playing in the pig pen at Grandma & Grandpa farm….when she told the story ” why didn’t your woman give me more” You all know the story. Pat, my heart is full for you at this very sad and lost time. I hope you call me to talk. Love Always.

I can not think of a single bad memory, Magah was such a foundation to everyone who’s lives she touched. So many kind loving words, she truly was a great woman and I am blessed to have known her. My prayers go out to uncle Pat and the rest of the family.
