Mark passed away on February 9, 2012 at the Sidney Health Center in Sidney, MT after a sudden heart attack. 

Mark was born on February 20, 1962, in Milwaukee, WI.  At an early age he moved to Fargo and graduated from Fargo North H.S. in 1980. He continued his education at Dakota Aero Tech with an Aircraft and Powertrain degree. He then attended mechanic school at Harley-Davidson and later Bismarck Technical College, graduating with a Heating and Cooling degree.

Mark was united in marriage to Sharon on November 25, 1995. They made their home in Hunter, ND prior to returning to Fargo where they have lived since. Mark worked as a mechanic for Harley-Davidson in Fargo, Precision Concrete Cutters, Swift Trucking, Clayton Drake Trucking, Valley Grain Trucking and most recently for E & B Trucking.

Throughout his life, Mark loved the outdoors. He spent many days boating, fishing and hunting with family, friends and his beloved dog , Ginger. He was a gentle soul who cherished time spent with his family. He was a multi-talented person who could do anything he set his mind to. Mark will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving son and loyal friend to many.

Mark is survived by his wife, Sharon of Fargo; his parents, Lynn and Nancy Crooks of Fargo; his sister, Lori (Dan) Traiser of Fergus Falls, MN - and their children, Kristin, Jenna and Erik Traiser. Also surviving are his mother-in-law, Betty Stromberg, his brothers-in-law, Tim (Renee Wentz) Stromberg and Jim Stromberg all of Wahpeton; and Bill (Cathy) Stromberg of Madison, SD; five other nieces and nephews; and many other very dear relatives and friends.

Mark is preceded in death by his father, Howard Ponik; his step-son, Louie West; his grandparents and aunts and uncles.

    We are very saddend by the sudden and untimely death of your son Mark. It wasn’t or it seemed that long ago that we used to see Mark as a young boy in our neighborhhod and then as a young man full of life and energy.
