Mark Rachow

Mark Rachow passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 31, 2016, at his home in Fargo, at the age of 60.
Mark Steven Rachow was born on February 4, 1956 in Hillsboro, ND, the son of Harold and Doris (Drees) Rachow. Mark was baptized and confirmed at St John Lutheran Church in Hillsboro.
Mark grew up on the family farm in Bohnsack Township near Hillsboro. He attended grades 1-4 at the Bohnsack Consolidated School, a country school close to his home. Mark then completed grades 5-12 in Hillsboro and graduated in 1974. Mark attended North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, ND from 1974-76. He later returned in 1986 and completed his Degree in Business Management.
After college, Mark moved to Fargo and held various jobs in the restaurant and food industry. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Fargo. Mark always had a love for music and enjoyed singing solos and duets at his church.
Mark could be very stubborn, but had a heart of gold. He loved to visit with people and could talk to anyone. He also enjoyed attending sporting events including Bison football and basketball games, Fargo Force Hockey, Redhawks and Twins games.
Mark is survived by two brothers: Mike of Corcoran, MN and Scott (Jen) of Columbia, MO; two sisters: Laurie and Karen (Mike) Maassel, both of Fargo, ND; his niece and nephews: Patrick, Megan and Ben Maassel, and Zeke Rachow; step-nieces: Heather Stubbs and Samantha (John) DeFere, along with many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 3, 2016 from 2:00-4:00 PM at Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo – and also one hour prior to the service in the church on Monday. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 AM on Monday, April 4 at Grace Lutheran Church in Fargo. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Hillsboro.

Mark was an Awesome person always had a nice word to say and always said Hi when you would see him. He was always kind and caring to people. I for one will miss him from passing each other and just saying Hi. I will miss seeing him walking on his way somewhere. Take care.
All our love during this time. We wish we could be there with you to recognize his life together but we are thinking about you all. I’ll never forget the day I went fishing with Mark, Mike, Harold, and Scott. I must have caught 5 fish (sunfish…but still fish) and they guys didn’t catch any. I could see their cheeks getting redder by the minute. Such a fun group of Rachow men!

Mark and I became good friends over the years playing volleyball and other recreational activities. He was a good friend and had a friendly personality that I will always remember. I had not seen him for a long time and all the more reason to go to his funeral but anyway its okay, I was not able to make it there. Sending condolences and God Bless!
