Marlys Schlichting died on Saturday, March 1, 2008 in West Fargo, ND surrounded by her family and under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Maryls Joann Johnson was born on August 20, 1937 to Alfred and Esther (Simonsen) Johnson in Davenport, ND. She graduated from West Fargo High School and attended Interstate Business College in Fargo, ND. She also continued her education through Jackson-Hewitt Tax Preparation within the last ten years. She married William H. Schlichting on March 18, 1956. They lived in various places in ND settling in Davenport, ND in 1975. She worked as a waitress at the Dutchmaid Grill and at the Highway Host in Fargo, ND. From 1973-1975, she worked at the Starlite and Moon-lite Drive-in Theaters. She started working at Bethany Homes in 1978 in Environmental Services and was there until 1997. She married Wayne L. Schlichting on August 16, 1997 in Indiana. They lived in Hobart, IN and she worked at Bill?s Janitorial Service for many years. They moved to Ashley, ND in 2004. Due to her medical condition, Marlys moved to her daughter?s home in West Fargo, ND in January of this year. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. She loved playing cards with her family and teaching the grandchildren how to cook. She enjoyed scrap-booking. A special thank you from the family to Hospice of the Red River Valley, MeritCare Clinic and Hospital, and F-M Ambulance for the care given to Marlys. Survivors include: her husband Wayne L. Schlichting, West Fargo, ND, children: Douglas Schlichting (Debra) Ashley, ND, Vernon Schlichting, Canton, OH, Joann Entzminger (Clarence) West Fargo, ND, James Schlichting, Moorhead, MN, Will Schlichting, Fargo, ND, Robin (Jim) Giles, College Station, TX, Johnny (Ann) Schlichting, Burleson, TX; 17 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; brother: Edwin Johnson, Mayville, ND; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her parents; 3 brothers: Vernon, Gerald ?Jerry?, Howard; one grandchild: Jimmy Giles. Visitation: 5:00-7:00 p.m. with 7:00 pm prayer service at Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. Funeral 2:00 p.m. Saturday March 8, 2008 at Davenport Lutheran Church, Davenport, ND, exit 54 off I-29 and continue west on Cass County #16 for 10 Miles.
