Martha Emma Wells, 95, passed away February 11, 2022 at Ecumen Evergreens of Fargo surrounded by family under the care of hospice. Martha was born August 20, 1926 in Enderlin, ND. She was raised in Alice and Casselton, ND. Martha was untied in marriage to Carl Otis Wells on February 12, 1945 in Saint Leo’s Catholic Church in Casselton, ND, and they made their home in Fargo, ND. She worked for the Fargo Public Schools and Kmart prior to retirement. Martha had a love for spending time in her flower gardens, baking, and cooking. She was a mother that led by example teaching her daughters love, independence, work ethic, honesty, faith, and the importance of family. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy. They brought her so much love and happiness. Martha’s love for God and her catholic faith was very important to her. She was a member of Saint Anthony’s of Padua Catholic Church from 1946 until her death. Martha is survived by her daughters, Rosemary Grieger, Carla (Garnet) Wells, Connie (Steve) Green, Cathy (Dewey) Powers; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Otis, parents, Karl and Rosa (Sturtz) Mikula; brothers, Carl, Gustav, Emil, and Frances Mikula; and sisters, Ella Cramer-Hejl, Agnes Akason, Mary Schneider, and Alvina Sell. She spent the last years of her life at Ecumen Evergreens of Fargo where she received excellent care. The family would like to thank the staff at both Evergreens and Hospice for their genuine compassion and wonderful care given to Martha in her time with them. In lieu of memorials, please make contributions to Hospice of the Red River Valley.

  2. Love the photo of Aunt Martha. That’s how I remember her always with a smile and dressed so bright and beautiful. I remember her as a loving mother to her daughters and family. She loved get togethers and loved to visit with people. Every time a saw her she would always ask me about my family. She was a loving, caring person and will be missed by many. Now is united with many of her family and friends in heaven. Love You
