Marvin Matthew Malmberg was born March 17, 1931 in Oakes, North Dakota to Martin and Mary (Johnson) Malmberg. He died April 26, 2006 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was seventy-five. He graduated from Oakes High School in 1949. He served with the Oakes Army National Guard when they were activated in 1950-1952. He received an Honorable Discharge as a First Lieutenant. He attended NDSU college of Pharmacy in Fargo, graduating with a B.S. in Pharmacy in 1956 and received his M.S. in Pharmacy Administration in 1958. From 1958 until 1970 Marv was the Chief Pharmacist at St. Ansgar Hospital in Moorhead, MN. From 1970 until 1997 he owned and operated Medical Pharmacy, Inc. in Fargo, ND. Marv served on the North Dakota State Board of Pharmacy and was President in 1993 and 1999. He was also a compliance officer for the Board. His community activities included serving on the Board of Directors for Fraser Hall. He was a member of the Fargo Elks Club (Chairman of Trustees and Exalted Ruler in 1993), a member of the American Legion, NDSU Teammakesr, and the NDSU College of Pharmacy Advisory Board. He married Joanne Barclay on June 13, 1951 in Oakes, ND. He is survived by six children: Dr. Mark (Barbara) Malmberg, Oakes, Marty (Ann) Malmberg, Barnesville, MN, Peggy (Paul) Rodenburg, Moorhead, MN, Paul Malmberg, Fargo, Nancy Thomas, Tulsa, OK, and John (Peggy) Malmberg, Kenosha, WI. He married Geri (Larson) Schmit on November 28, 1986. Geri Passed away April 10, 2001. He is survived by seven step-children: Deb (Bob) Lobis, Longmont, CO, Patricia (Dan) Quigley, Redmond, WA, Jerald (Tish) Schmit, Oakes, Douglas (Kim) Schmit, Oakes, Michael (Deb) Schmit, Queen Creek, AZ, Penny (Brent) Weight, LaMoure, ND, and Stacey (Mitch) Franks, Horace, ND. He married Barbara (Hale) Peterson on July 26, 2002. They had recently moved to Broken Arrow, OK. He is survived by his wife, and four step-children: David Peterson, Minneapolis, MN, Dale Peterson , Mandan, ND, Diane Moore, Hudson, WI, and Darlene (Mike) McLean, Jacksonville, FL. Marvin is also survived by many grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be sent to the NDSU College of Pharmacy and to Hospice of the Red River Valley. Visitation will be Thursday, May 4, 2006 at Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo from 5-7 PM with a memorial service at 7 PM at the funeral home. Chaplain Scott Curfman will be officiating. Burial will be Friday, May 5, 2006 at the Oakesview Cemetery in Oakes at 11 AM for family and friends. Pastor Harvey Pedersen will be officiating.
