Mary Ann Floyd, age 73, died Monday, September 5, 2005 at Bethany Homes, Fargo. Mary Ann Hay was born to Clarence and Vivian (Hogan) Hay on November 27, 1931 in Fargo, ND. After graduating from Fargo Central High School, she worked and taught in various positions and continued her education eventually obtaining a degree in Elementary Education from Moorhead State University in 1957 and a Masters in Library Science in 1972. Her first teaching position was in Circle Pines, MN from 1953-1955. She moved to Milwaukee, WI and taught 4th grade there for 2 ? years. She moved to Minneapolis, MN in 1959 and worked in the Minneapolis School System District #1. Mary Ann and James R. Floyd were married in 1976. She commuted to Minneapolis to teach for 2 years until taking a position as a Title 1 Tutor in the Fargo Public Schools. In 1984 she returned to teaching in Minneapolis as a Media Specialist and retired in 1988. Mary is a member of P.E.O., Study Club of Fargo, Board of Comstock House, Red River Royalty and Eastern Star Mecca #5 Chapter. Mary Ann is survived by her husband, James; her brother, John B. Hay (Patricia), West Bloomfield, MI; nieces, Julie Hay Chapman (George), Chicago, Illinois, Jane Hay Tetreault (Paul), Bloomfield Hills, MI, Joan Hay Cullen (John), Beverly Hills, MI; three great nieces and three great nephews. She was preceded in death by her niece, Jennifer Hay Luby (Rob), Chicago, Illinois. There will be a memorial service Thursday at 2 p.m. in First Presbyterian Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation will be one hour before the memorial service. Memorials are preferred to First Presbyterian Church, Fargo.
