Mary Hayes

Mary F. Hayes, 95, died Sunday, November 5, 2006 at Rosewood on Broadway, Fargo. Mary F. Rechsteiner was born in Wuerttemberg, Germany on November 4, 1911. At the age of 14 months, she and her family came to the United States by steamer ship to join her father who was farming in Creston, Iowa. Mary grew up on the family farm near Creston and she graduated from St. Malachy?s Catholic School in Creston. She and John A. Hayes were married on June 16, 1936 in Creston where they lived and raised their family. He died April 1, 1991. In the early 1990?s she moved to Fargo and resided at Riverview Place until 2004 when she moved to Rosewood on Broadway. Mary was a member of the Catholic Daughters and the Altar Society in Creston. Mary was very proud of her children and grandchildren. Faith, family, church and attending daily mass were very important to her. She was also a wonderful cook. She is survived by her son, Rob (Diane) Hayes, Waukee, IA; her daughter, Joan (Roger) Schraufek, Fargo, ND; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; her sister, Rose Wayman, Yuma, AZ.
