Mary passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at Innovis Hospital in Fargo at the age of 92.
Mary Margaret Sherman was born on September 8, 1915, the daughter of Paul and Katherine Sherman, in Mapleton, ND. At the age of 6 she moved with her family to Arthur, ND, attended grade school and graduated from Arthur High School. She then attended Moorhead State Teachers College in Moorhead and obtained a teaching degree. Mary was united in marriage to Lt. Orville McLaughlin at Fort Benning, Georgia, in 1942. They lived in various Forts in the United States and spent 3 years in Germany where her husband was stationed. They returned to Fargo in 1958. He passed away in 1979.
Mary was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the VFW Auxiliary. She also volunteered for over 25 years at the VA Hospital in Fargo.
Mary is survived by her son, Paul (Sharon) McLaughlin of Fargo; 3 grandchildren, Sean, Andrea, and Elizabeth; 2 great grandchildren, Haley and Rylan. She was preceded in death by her parents; and 3 brothers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Orville McLaughlin Cancer Fund through the Fargo VFW.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 1 PM Monday, January 14, 2008 at Riverview Place Chapel in Fargo
VISITATION: One hour prior to the service at Riverview Place Chapel on Monday
BURIAL: Holy Cross North Cemetery in Fargo
