Mary E. Norgard, age 88, of Hillsboro, North Dakota, died on Thursday, January 8, 2004, at the Hillsboro Medical Center Nursing Home. Mary Grant was born on January 27, 1915, in Cromwell, Scotland. She moved to the United States with her family when she was 6 years old and they settled near Heaton, North Dakota. Mary grew up in this area and attended school. After her schooling, she was united in marriage to Donald Veselka, in 1931. They moved to California where they lived and worked. Donald preceded her in death. Mary moved to Minnesota and worked at a logging camp as a cook. She later moved to Casselton, North Dakota, where she worked on the McIntyre Farm and met her future husband, Martin. Mary was united in marriage to Martin Norgard in 1947, in Fargo, North Dakota. They made their home on a farm near Casselton, until 1952, when they moved to a farm near Buffalo, North Dakota. Martin passed away in 1961. Mary continued living on the farm until moving to Casselton in 1968. Mary moved to Hillsboro in 1993, and later to the nursing home in 2001, where she has lived since that time. Mary is survived by her loving children, Roger (Candace) Norgard of Casselton; Richard Norgard of Fargo; Raymond (Jeanne) Norgard of Kindred; Rosemarie (Dale) Christianson of Cummings; her 8 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren; and sons, Clarence (Dorothy) Veselka of Florida; and Richard (Veronica) Veselka of Florida. She is also survived by her brothers, John (Alvaretta) Grant of Illinois; William Grant of Illinois; and Peter (June) Grant of Wisconsin. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Donald and Martin; her sons, Donald, Stanley and Robert; two sisters; and two brothers. FUNERAL: 1 PM Monday, January 12, 2004, at Our Savior?s Lutheran Church in Hillsboro VISITATION: 11 AM until the time of the service in the church on Monday BURIAL: 4 PM Monday, at the Casselton City Cemetery Funeral Services are entrusted to Wildeman Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
