Mary M. Pettinger, 102 years old, of Fargo, North Dakota died March 14, 2009 at Rosewood on Broadway in Fargo. Mary Mildred Donohue was born October 9, 1906 on a farm near Shannon City, Iowa to Catherine Friel Donohue of York Nebraska and Joseph Donohue of Kilkee, County Clare, Ireland. She graduated from Shannon City High School. On January 27, 1931 she married her childhood sweetheart Wm. Joseph Pettinger, also of Shannon City, Iowa, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Fargo. After her husband?s death October 28, 1952 she continued to raise their four children and went to work for Quality Bakery. She worked there until she retired in 1972. Mary was a lifelong member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. She was a member of St. Mary?s Altar Society and the Holy Spirit Women?s Guild. She and her family were charter members of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in North Fargo. Mary is survived by her children: son Thomas G. (Joyce) Pettinger of Fargo, son James F. Pettinger of Fargo, son Robert W. Pettinger of Fargo and daughter Mary Jo (Lon) Cooke of Fargo: seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; two sisters, Teresa Strickler of Falls Church, VA and Rosella Velliquette of Magalia, CA. Visitation: There will be a visitation at Boulger Funeral Home on Friday, March 20 from 7 to 8 PM followed by recitation of the rosary at 8 PM. Funeral: There will be a funeral on Saturday, March 21 at 11:00 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1420 7th St. North, Fargo. Burial: Holy Cross Cemetery, North Fargo. Memorials are preferred to the prayer garden at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, or may be given to the memorial or mass of the donor?s choice.
