Mary Ellen (Miller) Richards, 79, ended her earthly journey Saturday, June 25 at Rosewood on Broadway nursing home, and is now with her heavenly Father.

Mary was born on June 3, 1932 in Wolverton, MN to Paul and Rose (Lindemann) Miller. She grew up attending St. Thomas Catholic Church, in Kent, MN, where she received the Sacraments of baptism, Holy Communion, confirmation, and marriage. Mary attended school at St. Francis Academy in Hankinson, ND.

Mary married Daniel Richards on November 26, 1951, and to this union 9 children were born. When they were first married they farmed near Rothsay, MN. In 1961 they moved to Dilworth, MN, where Mary worked at Americanna Nursing Home of Moorhead as a cook. She retired in 1987 due to health reasons. She resided in north Moorhead until May of 2009, when she moved into Rosewood on Broadway.

Mary's life was spent providing and caring for her family, strongly relying on our Lord God for support and guidance. Mary is survived by her children, daughters: Marilyn (Roger) Gilbertson of Fargo, Deb Ramsey of Fargo, Cindi (James) Grotke of Rochester, NY, Marietta Richards of Fargo, Gloria (August) Dockter of Fargo, Connie Brandt of Moorhead; sons: Lawrence (Edda) Richards of Lee Summit, MO, Steven Richards of Moorhead; Grandchildren  Alicia (Darren) Kruse of West Fargo, Kyle Ramsey & Korey Ramsey both of Fargo, James Grotke and Michael Grotke both of Rochester, NY, Nicole Kolle of Fargo, Alexander Dockter & Stephanie Dockter both of Fargo, Ashley Richards of Morris, MN, Carissa Lane of West Fargo, Trevor Brandt of Moorhead; Great Grandchildren: Maximus, Elise, Alex, McKenzie, and Bentley. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Emil and Abel Miller, son Danny Richards, and Daniel Richards

The Family wishes to thank the staff of Rosewood on Broadway for the compassionate care given to Mary, and a thank you to her fellow co-residents of Rosewood on Broadway that provided Mary with daily companionship.

    So sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. I am sure she will be missed by many, I see from the obituary posted on Boulger’s website that she lived long enough to have great-grandchildren. There are generations and generations of those who love her.
