Medrise passed away peacefully in her sleep at 93 years of age under the care of Red River Hospice.
Medrise was born on July 4, 1928 to Arthur and Bertha (Rivard) Montplaisir in Horace, ND. She married James R. Johnson on December 31, 1949 at St. Mary’s Cathedral. Medrise was a stay at home mom to 7 children and started working at Woolworth’s when her youngest started school. She also volunteered for St. Vincent de Paul. Medrise loved to bake (especially her famous rhubarb pie), sew, and play cards.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; brothers, Normand, Leonard, Virgil (Gus), James, Walter; and sister, Lorraine Beach.
She is survived by her children, Diane Stallman (Gary) of Gig Harbor, WA, Colleen Bostow (Dennis) of Omaha, NE, Paulette Montplaisir of Eugene, OR, Debra of Eugene, OR, David of Fargo, ND, Bruce of Fargo, ND, Elaine (Tim) Kautzman of Fargo, ND; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Kathleen Rasmussen of Phoenix, AZ, and June Langdahl of Phoenix, AZ.
