Michael W. Borth, 33, died suddenly Saturday, June 27,2009.
Mike was born January 6, 1976 in Jamestown, ND. He was the youngest of three children born to Nata (Braasch) and Gary Borth. He grew up in Wimbledon, ND where he graduated from Wimbledon-Courtenay High School in 1994. He attended the University ofMary in Bismark, ND for one semester and then worked a few different jobs in the Jamestown and Fargo areas. In June of 1998, he was involved in a car accident and miraculously survived but became a quadriplegic. He was faced with many new challenges in his recovery, but eventually found a new lease on life. In 2000-2002 he attended UND in Grand Forks, ND and studied law and history. After a short time in Florida in 2002, he moved back to Grand Forks until February of 2005. He then moved to Fargo to be closer to his family and have them care for him. Medical problems prevented Mike from returning to school, but he had hoped to possibly start speaking at various organizations about the effects of drunk driving.
Mike enjoyed watching wrestling, movies, and spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews. He loved to watch sports, especially hockey, and was thrilled when the team arrived in town. Though he was paralyzed, he still continued to enjoy working in the kitchen. He loved coming up with new marinades and having get-togethers to try them out. Prior to 1998, he loved to go deer hunting, dancing, and golfing.
Mike was well loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Mike was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his mother Nata Borth (Tallahassee, FL); his sisters Stephanie Borth (Fargo, ND) and Jennifer (David) Jackson, (Fargo, ND); his grandmother Clarice (Detroit Lakes, MN); several aunts and uncles; and his four nieces and nephews.
There will be a memorial service at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Boulger Funeral Home Chapel.
