Michael's service will be livestreamed below at 2:00 PM Sunday, June 20, 2021. https://vimeo.com/event/1090950 Michael Paul Nygaard, 57, passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at Sanford Hospice House after a courageous battle with cancer. Michael was born March 12, 1964 to Michael and Rita (Berndt) Nygaard in Breckenridge, MN. He attended grade school in Fargo and graduated from Fargo North Highschool in 1982. He was very active in theater and Trollwood Performing Arts. Michael also was a counselor at Camp Cormorant for many years. After school, he held various jobs at Upstream, manager at Palm Coast Tann, manager at the Arc in Fargo, and a manager at Fargo Liquidators. Michael was very active in iStand; prevention of abducted children which was close to home after his two nieces were taken. iStand decided to change their iStand Crusader award in honor of Michael to the Michael Nygaard Crusader award. Michael loved to garden and collected many antiques and Coca-Cola products. Michael is survived by his parents, Michael and Rita; siblings, Mark, Melisa; nephews, Aarin, Stephen, Brandin; great nieces, Cheyenna Nygaard and Tatelyn Stanley; dog, Mollie; cat, Cooper; good friend, Kerwin Baker; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents, and great nephew, Gabriel. A special thanks to Scott and Michelle Gietzen for their care of Michael and Lynne McManus Nancy Pratchett, and Todd Berndt and Family for the care of his fur babies.

  7. I had known Michael for years. I talked with him on Facebook quite often. He really was a great guy! I’ve had alot of great memories with Michael. I know that he has his angel wings and knowing Michael he’s going to be every where. God bless you Michael rest in peace!

  12. My heart breaks for the loss of Michael. We have been friends since our early teen years and I am struggling to imagine this world without Michael’s wonderful heart and smile.   13. I was surprised and saddened to learn of Mike’s passing. Though I have not seen him in many years, I remember him very well from being in theater with him at North High and Trollwood. We worked on a several shows together. He was always very energetic and enthusiastic!

  14. So sorry to see this today, June 21st, 2021. I’m sorry I didn’t know he was sick! Michael was my first 7th grade “crush” and we lost touch 5 years ago. Your family is in my prayers!

  17. I’m so very sorry to hear of such a great loss. I d8dnt know Michael very long maybe a year or so but absolutely enjoyed seeing him and chit chatting. I will miss him truly and will always remember him. Prayers to his wonderful family that I have been privileged to get to know over the last year. Hugs to you all and my deepest sympathy.
