Michael "Mike" Trom

Vikings superfanatic, Mike from Fargo, Michael (Mike) Ronald Trom 57, Moorhead, MN went to his heavenly home on October 22, 2018 at Sanford Palliative care with his wife at his side. Mike was born on February 9, 1961 in St. Luke’s Hospital in Fargo, ND to Richard and Marlene (Rostad) Trom. Mike grew up and attended school in Moorhead, MN. Mike was baptized at Faith Lutheran Church, West Fargo, ND and confirmed at Lutheran Church of Good Shepherd, Moorhead, MN. Mike was married to Amy Prischmann on June 18, 2005. Mike had a passion for all Minnesota sports that never faltered. Despite not winning the Superbowl in any of Mike's 5X years, he remained eternally optimistic that next season would be the year the Vikings would take home the championship. When Mike was diagnosed with brain cancer in November of 2017, his first request was for a Vikings Helmet to be buried in. Thanks to Derek Hanson and Mike McFeeley his request was fulfilled. Mike received one helmet from the Vikings equipment manager along with a signed football, and a helmet from the foundation. His optimism extended to his card playing, as anyone who has lost to Mike's wild pinochle bidding can confirm. Mike didn't just love football, he also loved his family deeply. His dog, Tiny, reached near-celebrity status at Eventide in Moorhead, where Mike stroked his ears while watching the Minnesota Twins during his last days. Mike's family is grateful for all the visitors who came to see him. Tiny is grateful for the ear rubs. Tiny is joining Mike in Heaven. Mike liked to keep up with everyone's hobbies, even if they didn't involve football. He was a passionate player of hand & foot and dominos. He liked to convince his nurses to bring him extra bags of chips. Mike also loved to fish and was convinced he would someday catch a huge walleye. He was a devoted cat daddy as well. In his last months, Mike enjoyed a sweet relationship with the children at Bethel Evangelical Free church in Fargo. The Sunday School kids would write cards for him regularly, and Mike looked forward to their messages with great anticipation. He enjoyed their ideas about heaven, and made extensive plans for his next life in the heavenly realm. Mike is survived by his wife, Amy Trom, who, despite Mike calling in to sports talk shows during their honeymoon, remained faithfully by his side for 13 years. He is also survived by his : mother and stepfather Marlene and Jim Aas; sister, Carol Jo (Dennis) Stevenson; niece and nephews, DeVante Stevenson, Ben Czeck, Ashleigh (Jared) Brittan, Brody and Riley, Elk River, MN; stepsisters and their families Nancy (Lewis) Sego, Rockford, MN, Preston ( Rachel) Sego, Taylor (Ally) Sego and Carol (David) Wheeler Grand Forks, ND, Jamie (Jeremy) Workman, Wren and Rowan, Andi Wheeler, JoDee Wheeler; his in-laws, Tom and Karen Prischmann, Fergus Falls MN; Hope Winrod, Erinn (Mark) Webb, Isaac and Esmeralda, Mark (Gracia) Prischmann, Ethan, Jesse Prischmann.; maternal uncles, Robert Rostad, Colfax ND, Duane and Chris Kroseman Rochester MN; maternal aunts Sharon and Loria Rostad, Fargo, ND; paternal aunt, Jerry Lechner, Fargo, ND; and several cousins. Mike goes to join Jesus and his father, Richard Trom; grandparents: Oscar and Louise Trom, Ingman and Mildred Rostad, Uncles: Myron and Rodney Rostad, Orville (Betty) Trom, Bill Lechner, Aunts: Karen Kroseman, Beverly (Lowell) Simenson; and Amy’s grandma Sally Olson.
