Michele S. (Gianfrancesco) Mullen, 97, joined “our angels” in heaven on January 22, 2017. She was born on January 9, 1920 to Vincent and Giulia (Segrela) Gianfrancesco in Providence, RI. Michele was educated in Providence, graduating from St. Joseph’s Hospital of Nursing with her R.N. degree. Michele married James F. Mullen of Underwood, MN on May 13, 1944. After Mr. Mullen was discharged from the Navy, the couple settled in Moorhead, MN. Michele’s nursing career spanned 30 years in the cities of Fargo-Moorhead before retiring 1977. Michele’s hobbies were crossword puzzles, crocheting, knitting, reading, and she was an avid Bridge player. She spent her summers at her lake home in Minnesota, enjoying visits from her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and longtime family friends. Michele was a loving and dedicated mother above all. She is survived by her children, Janet Erickson, West Fargo; Dennis Mullen, Littleton, Colorado; Debby Gerber, Mission Viejo, California; and Paul Mullen, Mission Viejo, California. Michele loved her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and longtime family friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, James; brother, Robert Gianfrancesco; son-in-law, Paul Erickson; and granddaughter, Julie Erickson. Michele’s ashes will be blessed and her life celebrated at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at Boulger Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center, Fargo. Inurnment will be at St. Joseph’s Columbarium in Moorhead at a later date. We want to thank the “White Team” at Hospice of the Red River Valley for their constant support and compassion for Mom and our family.

    My best childhood memories were the visits from Aunt Mickey. We looked forward to those visits more than anything else. I will miss our telephone conversations but am glad that she is at peace with the rest of her family that went before her. Forever in my heart.
