Myron Duane Hummel, 68, died Thursday, May 14, 2009, at Bethany Homes in Fargo, ND after a courageous battle with congestive heart failure.
Myron was born August 7, 1940, in McIntosh, SD to Zora and Hilda (Rieker) Hummel. On June 3, 1961 he was united in marriage to Delores Walker in Bismarck, ND.
Myron spent several years in the Air Force stationed in Rome, NY and abroad. He worked for Montana Dakota Utilities which moved him and his family from Bismarck, ND, Scobey, MT , Langdon, ND and finally to Walhalla, ND. While in Walhalla he purchased and operated the Walhalla Hardware store for many years. After selling his business he began working at Motor Coach Industries in Pembina, ND from where he retired and moved to Grand Forks, ND.
Myron’s surviving family members include, his wife of 48 years, Delores; children: Randy Hummel of Walhalla, ND; Sheryl (Mike) Bahl of Owatonna, MN; Paula (Scott) Breidenbach of West Fargo, ND and Susan Yahnke of Grand Forks, ND; nine grandchildren: Elisa, Rylan, Clark, Grant, Abbie, Emma, Parker, Brittney, and Robert; four great-grandchildren: Brianna, Kendra, Emilee and Isabella. He is also survived by his sister Donna (Gary) Hellman of Grand Forks, ND and his father and mother-in-law, John and Elsie (Hepper) Walker of Bismarck, ND.
Myron was preceded in death by his parents, Zora and Hilda Hummel.
Memorial Service: Monday, May 18 at 2:00 pm at Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo.
Visitation: Monday from 1-2 pm at the funeral home.
