Noel passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2016 in Mesa, Arizona. Noel was born on August 31, 1931 to Clifford and Tillie Gunderson in Milan, MN. As a child he lived near Windsor, ND where his parents farmed. Noel attended a one room school house where all grades 1-8 where one teacher taught all grades and subjects. He had completed all six grades when he was 11 years old and his family moved to Detroit Lakes, MN. He attended school there and graduated from high school in 1949. As a young man he went to work for NW Bell Telephone Company in Detroit Lakes. He later was transferred to Fargo and then to Bismarck, ND where he met and married Bonnie MacMonagle in 1955. They had two sons and a daughter. His work took him to various cities in North Dakota. From Bismarck they moved to Minot and a year later transferred to Grand Forks. While in Grand Forks he became very active in community affairs becoming President of Sertoma and JC’s where he was awarded “outstanding young man”. From Grand Forks the family moved to Fargo where he worked until he retired as Manager of pricing, with 34 years of service. Noel was an avid hunter and fisherman all of his life. He fished many lakes in Canada, Minnesota and North Dakota. He loved hunting and hunted deer and antelope, ducks and geese and pheasants. In 2011 he and Bonnie moved to Mesa, AZ. He is survived by his wife Bonnie; two sons – Timothy (Pam) Gunderson of Wisconsin Dells, WI: Thomas of Fargo, ND and daughter, Jeanne (John) Maurer of Chandler, AZ. Also surviving are five grandsons – Ben and Jon Gunderson, Nicholas and Dylan Gotfred of Chandler and Samuel Gunderson of Wisconsin Dells, WI; two sisters – Mavis (Duane) Knutt of Moorhead, MN; and Dolly (David) Andersen of Bend, OR; several nieces and nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. FUNERAL SERVICE: 11 AM Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Hope Lutheran Church –North Campus in Fargo VISITATION: one hour prior to the service in the church on Saturday BURIAL: Holy Cross North Cemetery in Fargo
