Norma I. Olson was singing “Alleluia” as she was received into God’s loving arms on March 7, 2020 at Eventide, Fargo, N.D. with her loving family by her side. Norma was born in Fargo, N.D. on July 23, 1931 to Beatus and Benora Bale. She was raised on the family farm south of Horace, N.D. She attended grade school at Pleasant 8 Country School and graduated from Kindred High School in 1949. She attended Concordia College majoring in Home Economics and Music and also sang in the Concordia Choir. While in high school she met Lyle Olson of Leonard, N.D. They were married two years later on June 17, 1951. Norma joined her husband working side by side on the family farm raising grain and caring for the livestock. Norma was active in 4-H, Ladies Aid, Hollyhock Homemakers, Leonard Cemetery Association, and Church activities. She was Sunday school superintendent, Sunday school teacher and sang in the church choir. Norma also sang for weddings and funerals. In 1953, Lyle and Norma welcomed their first son, Rodger followed by a second son, Paul and a daughter, Barbara. Norma is survived by Rodger (Kathy) Olson, and their children, Kyle (Tara) and children Eva, Nora and Brynn; Jason (deceased); Bryce Olson; Aaron (Rachel) and their children Sawyer, Lincoln, Walter and baby due in April; Kristin (Aaron Opheim) and their children, Camilla, Olivia and baby due in August; and Kathryn Olson. Paul (Deb) and their children, Emily (Brian) Potter and children Lydia and Victoria, Michael (Sarah) and their children Maisen, Myah, Maxx. Barbara (David Beliveau) and their children, Leah (Eli Maloley) and children Jehu, Judah and Zoe, Renee (Tega Obebeduo) and children Nadine and Adrian; Michelle (Aaron Juhnke) and daughter Madeline; and Nicole Beliveau. Norma’s family was very important to her. She loved to attend all of their activities. Norma was preceded in death by her husband Lyle and grandson Jason, her parents and brother, Jens (Vye) and sister, Rikka (Erling) Weiberg. The family would like to thank the staff at Eventide in Fargo and Hospice for the compassionate and loving care for Mom in her final days. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley, New Hope Lutheran Church in Leonard, or the Leonard Cemetery Association. VISITATION: 5-7 PM Thursday, March 12, 2020 at Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo – and also one hour prior to the service in the church on Friday. PRAYER SERVICE: 7 PM Thursday at Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo. FUNERAL SERVICE: 11 AM Friday, March 13, 2020 at New Hope Lutheran Church in Leonard, ND. BURIAL: Leonard Cemetery

  2. So sorry for your loss.
    I have to remind you of one of my favorite times with Norma, as Rodger and Paul will remember, one day on the farm Norma invited me over for dinner, we had lutefisk, it was great but Norma and I laughed because Lyle and you two were nowhere to be found as dinner time. One of many fun times on the farm!!

    Pick nicks and family reunions. Food, lots of fun and playing Rook. May we have many blessed reunions in heaven one day.
