Odessa Gietzen

odessa gietzen

Odessa May Gietzen, Fargo, ND was received in the arms of the Lord on June 2, 2014.  She was born on February 10, 2014 to Raphael and Nicole Gietzen in Minneapolis, MN.  She blessed those on Earth with her presence for only a few months, but will remain in the hearts of her family forever.

In Odessa’s short life, she faced many challenges, but with her family she fought courageously.  She was an inspiration to many, especially her parents, who drew strength from her bravery and the calmness that she always had, even with her health issues.

Odessa loved to light up the room with her smile and always had a lot to say.  Her siblings greatly enjoyed her smile and the time they spent entertaining her.

She will be greatly missed by her parents, Raphael and Nicole (Rieck) Gietzen; siblings, Aidric, Natalya, Ellianna, and Atticus; grandparents, Bonnie Rieck, Russell and Anh Gietzen; and many aunts, uncles, cousins--all who are anxiously awaiting to be reunited with their little princess.

There will be a funeral service at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, June 6, 2014 at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, Fargo with a visitation one hour prior.

Arrangements entrusted to the care of Boulger Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center, Fargo.  To sign the online guestbook, please visit www.boulgerfuneralhome.com.

  3. Huron SDRaphael and Nichole,
Our hearts ached for you when we heard the news of Odessa’s death. You are in our thoughts and prayers, especially that the Lord will give you strength and comfort especially at this time that you experience the sorrow of living in our fallen world. Jesus said: “I have said these things to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart, I have overcome the world.” (Jn 16:33). In His grace and in God’s certain promises in Holy Baptism, we both take comfort and look to the Day of the Resurrection when “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes and when death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning nor crying nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away. And He who was seated on the throne said, ‘Behold I am making all things new.'” (Rev. 21:4-5). God’s peace. Pastor and Debbie Sattgast

  6. NChas SCDear Gietzen family,
My heart goes out to you at this time of pain and grief because I lost my granddaughter at one month old. I got to hold her only one time and the next day she was gone. This enemy death always brings much grief and pain and though you don’t know me, I hope you’ll accept my deep sorrow and regrets for your loss and I wanted to share what helped me at such a time. I found comfort and hope in what Jehovah Gods word the Bible says at John11:11 that our love ones are just asleep and Jesus states at John5:28,29 that we’ll see our love ones again and also at ICor15:26 we’re told this enemy death will be done away with and these scriptures help me get through each day because I miss her so much and I’m truly hoping they’ll help you in some way for this is my purpose in sharing them with you and please know I do share your grief.
    Sincerely, Gloria
