The funeral service for Olaf Rasmusgaard will be held 2 PM Friday, July 25, 2003, at Our Savior?s Lutheran Church in Hillsboro. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 - 7 PM at Wildeman Funeral Home in Hillsboro and also one hour prior to the funeral in the church on Friday. Burial will be held in Riverside Cemetery in Hillsboro. Olaf died on Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo at the age of 73. Olaf (Ole) Johannes Rasmusgaard was born on July 21, 1930, in Dahlen, North Dakota, to Ole and Amelia (Randklev) Rasmusgaard. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He attended school in North Dakota and Minnesota and moved to Grand Forks, North Dakota, in 1942, with his family. He served as a paratrooper in 1950, in the Korean Conflict. He married Ruth Randlkev-Odegard in December of 1971, in South Dakota. Later he married June Anderson Dohrwardt in September of 1998, in Portland, North Dakota. They made their home in Hillsboro. Olaf is survived by his loving wife, June of Hillsboro; three daughters, Susan E. (Dean) Derby of Hope, North Dakota; Lori A. (John) Reardon of Ft. Riley, Kansas; Candie (Jose) Valadez of Fargo; two sons, Brandy E. (Shirley) Dohrwardt of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and Bray (Shannon) Dohrwardt of Roseville, Minnesota; three sisters, Eleanor Eggen of Hunter, North Dakota; Adelline Norheim of Rugby, North Dakota; and Hilma Kvamme of Thief River Falls, Minnesota; several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Olaf was preceded in death by his parents; step father, Ludvig Bjerken; a infant brother and sister; a brother Edgar Hanson and 1st wife Ruth A. Rasmusgaard; and granddaughter, Brianne Kay Reardon.
