Orville Olson

Orville C. Olson, 91, Fargo passed away Thursday, August 8, 2019 at Villa Maria Nursing Home, Fargo surrounded by his family.
Orville was born July 26, 1928 in Davenport, North Dakota to Julius and Selma (Lykken) Olson. He attended school at Davenport, North Dakota. He went to work on the family farm before enlisting in the U.S. Army in July, 1946. He was honorably discharged in 1947. He was also active in the North Dakota Guard. He married Marjorie Goshinska, and to this union they had 1 child, Michael Olson. He married Irene Barker on February 14, 1975 in Watertown, South Dakota. They made their home in Fargo and they loved traveling across country during Orville’s trucking years with Allied Van Lines and their honeymoon never ended. Irene passed away in 2018.
He also worked for Cash Wise Foods in the warehouse, which he enjoyed immensely. He reluctantly retired on July 15, 2012, working into his 80’s.
Orville was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church as well as the American Legion. He was a proud veteran and enjoyed his fellowship with fellow veterans during his stay at Villa Maria.
He is survived by his children; Michael (Laurie) Olson, Sabin, MN, Douglas Smith, Fargo, ND, Linda (Curt) Blumhardt, West Fargo, ND, Gordon Smith, Rochert, MN; sister, Ione Lemke, St. Paul, MN; 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, brother, Earl Olson; sister, Marjorie Wenzloff; and his great-grandchildren, Sophia Marie, Grace Leigh and Leon Curtis Dale.
Funeral Service: 2:00 P.M. Monday, August 12, 2019 at Boulger Funeral Home & Celebration of Life Center, Fargo with visitation starting at 1:00 P.M.
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.
Memorials preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley and/or the Fargo American Legion.

around the late 70s or early 80s i met Orville and Irene at a garage in Davenport, He was driving for Adams out of Fargo. Irene was so happy and the two of them appeared just right for each other. At our 50th anniversary our little band played the song “JUST LOOK AT US” by Vince Gill and when I hear the words, I want to hold my wife a little longer I think of their marriage. Its a good memory of the two of them
