Ottilia "Til" Tellinghusen

Ottilia “Til” Gapp Ermer Tellinghusen was born August 23, 1926 to Albert & Ottilia Gapp at Walhalla, ND and died on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Sheyenne Crossings in West Fargo, ND.
Til attended school at Freemont Township and graduated from high school at St. Alphonsus School in Langdon, ND. She attended Teachers College at Valley City, received her teaching degree, and taught grade school at Elm Point in Walhalla for two years. Til married Albert Ermer on October 5, 1948 and they were blessed with two daughters, Kathleen Marie and Jane Margaret. Albert passed away on December 4, 1965 after a lengthy illness. Til attended Interstate Business College and was employed as a secretary in the Horticulture Department at NDSU. She married Ronald Tellinghusen on May 3, 1969. They went into business and started Tellinghusen’s Tailoring and worked together for twenty years until she retired in August 1999.
Til was an active member of St. Mary’s Cathedral parish since 1951 where she held offices in St. Mary’s Altar Society, taught CCD and did volunteer work. Til was also a member of the NDSU retired secretary’s club.
Til’s primary interest was being a loving and supportive wife and mother where she loved being surrounded by her family, grandchildren and great -grandchildren. Her other interests were music, choir and playing piano. She and Ron loved dancing and enjoyed it for over 50 years. Traveling took them to European countries, Mexico, the Caribbean, Hawaii, and other numerous states.
Til leaves behind her beloved husband, Ron, daughters Kathleen (Joe) Axtmann of Aberdeen and Jane (Steve) Metzger of Carrington. She also leaves behind grandchildren: Marie (Dale) Langbehn of Huron, SD; Jennifer (Jamison) Jensen of Argusville; Dan (Lisa) Metzger of Casselton; Rebecca (Derek) Driedger of Mitchell, SD; Matthew (Kate) Metzger of St. Louis Park, MN and Patrick (Carissa) Metzger of Casselton. In addition, Til leaves 10 great-grandchildren: Arianna & Emma Langbehn, Marcus, Connor and Josie Jensen, Theo and Ben Metzger, Racquel and Karina Driedger and Zahra Metzger. In addition, Til leaves brothers: Clarence, Fort Collins, CO; Art (Marilyn) Gapp of Walhalla; sister, Cecilia Kryzsko of East Grand Forks, sister-in-law Velma Gapp of Rolla and Helen Tellinghusen of Rapid City, SD.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Ermer, a granddaughter, Elizabeth Axtmann, a grandson in infancy, Joseph Nicholas Axtmann, brothers: Al, Ray, Francis, sister Mary Ann (Don) Knudson, brothers-in-law Jim Kryzsko, Harold, Howard (Vivian), Albert (Lavonne) Tellinghusen, and sisters-in-law, June Matzke, Vivian (Mike) Philbin, and Virginia (Don) Schnoor.
The family would like to thank everyone at Sheyenne Crossings for the loving care they provided for Til. Your kindness and compassion will never be forgotten.
VISITATION: 6-7 PM Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo – and also one hour prior to the service in the church on Wednesday
PRAYER SERVICE: 6:45 PM Tuesday Rosary with a prayer service following at 7 PM at Boulger Funeral Home
FUNERAL MASS: 10 AM Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Fargo
BURIAL: Holy Cross North Cemetery in Fargo.

Dear Ron & Family;
We are out in HI and just read of Til’s passing. We want to extend our sincere condolences to you and the family in your loss of a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmom. She was a lovely person and we always enjoyed watching you guys dance and or great visits, when we could.
We would come to the funeral if we could, but are not able to, but our thoughts and prayers are with you all and Til.

Ron, I’m so sorry to hear of Til, she was an amazing lady. I’m so glad you came to the flower shop with her a couple weeks ago. It was so good to see you both. Take care Ron.
Was sorry to hear of Tillie’s death. She was a lovely lady. I won’t be able to attend the funeral as I will be on my way to Montana but offer you my prayers and condolences.

Ron, we just learned of Til’s death. Out heartfelt ache is extended to you. We have so many wonderful memories of Til and the rest of the gang. Our lives were truly blessed to call you friends. Just the other night Tom and I were reminiscing about our Fargo days and we commented about how Til’s’ laughter was infectious–there was always laughter AND food. Loved your birthday cake!
