Paul Erickson

Paul J. Erickson of West Fargo, ND, died May 5, 2014. He was born on August 5, 1943 in Fargo, ND to Gordon and Connie Erickson. He was raised in the Harwood Prosper area and attended St. Mary’s Elementary school and later graduated from Shanley High School in 1961 where he met his high school sweetheart, Janet M. Mullen, of Moorhead, MN. They married in 1964 at St. Josephs Church in Moorhead, MN and lived in the NDSU housing units until his graduation from NDSU with a degree in Ag-Econ.
Upon graduation, he was employed by USDA. He enlisted in the US Army in 1966 where he was stationed at Fort Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska. He served 3 years and was honorably discharged in 1969. He was assigned as an Assistant County supervisor for Farmers Home Administration in Park River, ND where they lived for 17 years; he was later transferred to West Fargo, ND, where he served as Cass County Supervisor for Farms Service Agency until his retirement in 2001.
Paul enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, camping and time spent on Pickerel Lake in Minnesota where they enjoyed summers with family and grandchildren. He was greatly loved by family, friends, and grandchildren.
Paul is survived by his wife Janet (Mullen) Erickson; his children: John Erickson, West Fargo, ND; Julie Erickson, West Fargo, ND; Jason Erickson, Fargo, ND; and James Erickson, Los Angeles, CA; his grandchildren: Levi Thene, Justas Thene, Zakary Thene, Zoe Erickson, Laila Erickson, Leyton Erickson, Knox Erickson; siblings: Diane (Justo) Mari; Ivan (Patricia) Erickson; Phyllis Vigen; David (Laurie) Erickson; Dennis (Bettye) Erickson; mother-in-law, Michele Mullen, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Gordon and Connie Erickson, and his sister, Noelle Olmstead.

Am saddened to learn of Paul’s death. He was a very remarkable guy and it was always obvious that you and he had a very special relationship. My prayers are with you and your family.

I remember Paul from Shanley High School days. He was such a pleasant person, and fun to be around. We are praying for his family.
Washington DCI am deeply saddened and shocked to hear of Paul’s death. I have wonderful memories of him from our Shanley days. For some crazy reason he was always “Pablo”. I loved his dry wit and slow cadence when he spoke. When we reunited at one of our reunions and I loved seeing that he hadn’t changed a bit…still the same “Pablo”.
With deepest sympathy….. wish I lived closer so that I could attend the service. God bless

We want your family to know that we
are sorry to hear of Paul’s passing. It was only recently that we heard of his illness and now sadly we heard of his death.
One comforting thought is that he was a good man and surely God has a special attachment to him and everyone he loves. We will meet him again someday. That is our hope!

Paul and I went through US Army basic and advanced training in Fort Leonard Wood, MO back in February through early summer of 1966, He was a great guy. I had the honor of meeting his wife, Janet, when we drove back to Fargo after basic training. We had lots of laughs and enjoyed each other’s company. I am saddened by Paul’s passing, even though it has been some time now. My sincere condolences to the Erickson family, especially to Janet. May God bless you all.
