Paul Gorder, age 87, of Oxbow, ND- formerly of Galchutt, ND, died on August 29, 2020 in Fargo, with dignity and grace, surrounded by his loving family.
Paul Roland Gorder was born June 29, 1933, the son of Benjamin and Vivian (Hatlie) Gorder, in Fargo. He grew up on the family farm near Galchutt where he received his education. Following his graduation, he attended North Dakota Agricultural College (now NDSU) where he was involved in the ROTC program. Paul was united in marriage to Janice Sunde on June 25, 1955, in Averill, MN. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as a helicopter pilot, and an instructor. After his discharge they returned to North Dakota where they farmed and raised their family and continued his passion of flying.
Throughout the years, Paul loved to spend time on the golf course, watching sports, reading, and being with his family.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Janice of Oxbow, ND; his children – Mark (Jamie) Gorder of Galchutt, ND; Kay (Richard) Ames of Wahpeton, ND; Linda (Darren) Bergsgaard of Grand Forks, ND; and John (Michele) Gorder of Eagan, MN; his grandchildren – Vincent (DeeAnn) Gorder, and their children, Wade and William; Anne (Nick) Meyer and their children, Vivian and James; Laura (Ryan) Rettig and their children, Henry and Charles Paul; Ryan (Noelle) Ames and soon to be new arrival, baby boy Ames; Leah Ames; Benjamin York; Siri Bergsgaard; Karr Bergsgaard; Alex Gorder; and Michael Gorder. Also surviving are his sister, Jean (Donavon) Loff of Galchutt; and his brother, James (Beverly) Gorder of Elgin, MN; and many other dear relatives, friends and neighbors.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents.
There will be a family Celebration of Life Service held at 2 PM Friday, September 4, 2020 at Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo. Military Funeral Honors will be held immediately following the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Fargo Air Museum, Hospice, or to Roger Maris Cancer Center.

Had the pleasure of having Paul as a neighbor and friend for many years. Talked about everything you could imagine and solved all the worlds problems if they just would have listened to us !!! Also farmed for the Gorder family and enjoyed every minute of it especially when Paul and I got to do it together. Loved golfing with him and enjoying the small bets we had. Poker with him was a blast !!! Will miss him terribly and Delores and I wish the very best to the entire Gorder family.

My deepest sympathy to the family of Paul Gorder. I deeply enjoyed our time together, mostly with John and Greg Loff on the golf course. I always had such a good time being around him. It had been a while but we played last year at Edgewood on a leg of our (Greg, John and I) annual golf trip. And then Paul and Jan took us out to dinner afterwards. I will miss him as I know everyone that knew him will. My thoughts and prayers are will you all in this time of sadness. I will keep those memories of him always!

Sorry to hear of the loss of Paul.He was truly a gentleman. It will be nice when Covid is over so we can go back to attending funerals the old way where you can give the family a Handshake and a Hug.
Kay, Don and I extend our heartfelt sympathies to you and your family at this most difficult time. I have fond memories of your dad when you brought him to the last air show. He was so surprised to be picked up by General Haugen in a golf cart at the gate. You made his day special and he enjoyed himself so much. I know he will be truly missed.

We just found out about Paul’s passing when we read that his wife Jan also passed away.
We met Paul & Jan shortly after opening our new business “The Welding Rod” in Mooreton, ND in 1976.
He was a good customer and a great friend.
We worked together on innovative Sugar Beet
Equipment, and farm equipment repair. Paul & Jan were special individuals; we’ll miss them !
