Paul Curtiss Humphreys died Monday, August 27, 2007 at Bethany Homes in Fargo. Paul was born August 31, 1924 in Fargo to Roy L. Humphreys and Agnes (Herbst) Humphreys. Paul graduated from Central High School in 1942 and enlisted in the Army Air Corps. He served as a B-26 pilot during World War II, was stationed in Europe, and was discharged in 1946. He attended North Dakota State University and graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1948. He moved to Hawthorne, CA, a suburb of Los Angeles, where he worked for North American Aviation. In 1970 he returned to Fargo. He has worked as a volunteer at Bethany Nursing Home since 1980 and at the Food Pantry, accumulating over 20,000 volunteer hours. In 2001 Paul was named Volunteer of the Year by both the North Dakota Long Term Care Association and the State of North Dakota. Paul is a member of First Congregational Church. Paul was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Jean Humphreys Nickel; and his brother Roy L. Humphreys, Jr. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Mildred Humphreys, of St Joseph, MO; and a niece and seven nephews. Memorials are preferred to Bethany Homes. A Memorial Service celebrating Paul's life will be held Friday August 31, 2007 at 4 p.m. at Bethany Homes, Mavis Whiting Chapel.
