June 26, 1944 - January 30, 2018

Paulette Claire (Thomas) Lacher, age 73, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Sanford Medical Hospital following complications from surgery.   She was born to Archie and Mildred Marion (Ellingson) Thomas on June 28, 1944 in Northwood, ND.  The family moved from Aneta, ND to Fargo, ND in 1948 where Paulette went to school and met the love of her life.  On November 21, 1961, Paulette and George Lacher eloped.  She spent the next 56 years of her life taking care of and raising her family.  She worked for many years at Maintenance Engineering and retired from Bell State Bank in 2007. She dedicated her life to Our Blessed Mother Mary and Catholic Daughters.   This dedication so moved mom that she printed a book, Vision of Mary and her apparitions.  In 1983, Paulette and George became members of the Knights of Columbus family, where they made many memories and life-long friends.  When Very Reverend Chad Wilhelm’s mother passed away he was “adopted” by George and Paulette.  In 2000, Paulette with her husband were honored with a special recognition from Pope St. John Paul II with the Medal of Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice, of the Holy Father for their dedication to Bishop Sullivan, the church, and their faith.  They were both members of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher.  Her favorite things were Elvis, Disney, travelling anywhere and everywhere, especially the ocean.  She loved to read, crochet and spend time with her family.  Her passion was to decorate her house into a loving home.

Loving mother of John Lacher, Jan (Dan) Nordin and Jennifer (Gordy) Johnson and grandchildren, Ashley (Ross) McCleary, Adam Lacher, Stephen (Amanda) and Dylan (Natascha) Gripentrog and Jacob Johnson.  Great-grandchildren, Blakely, Elliott, Sydnee, Quinn and Finley.  She was preceded in death by her entire family.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. followed by the prayer service at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Fargo.  Visitation will continue from 9-10 a.m. followed by the funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, at the church.  Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery North at a later date.

Memorials can be made to the Knights of Columbus Foundation.
