Peter Schuck

Peter J. Schuck, 89, Moorhead, MN, died Thursday, January 7, 2010.
Mr. Schuck was born May 16, 1920 in Devils Lake, North Dakota to Joseph and Regina (Kuntz) Schuck. The family moved to Grand Forks, North Dakota in 1929. He attended St. Michaels Grade School and graduated from St. James Academy in 1938.
He worked on the Great Northern railroad in Grand Forks before enlisting in the Navy in early June 1942. On August 22, 1942 he married his sweetheart, Bertha Bjugson in Saint Michaels Catholic Church in Grand Forks, North Dakota. After his discharge he attended a year in Electronic’s at Wahpeton State School of Science. In spring of 1945, they opened a Radio and Refrigeration Sales and Service business in Hillsboro, North Dakota. They sold out their business in December 1948, starting a new business called Western Products and moved to Moorhead, Minnesota. The new business moved to Fargo several years later, selling fire control systems, lightning rods and siding. Several salesmen were added and steel siding became the new product as the territory expanded. Shortly thereafter, they founded a wholesale division called Builders Supply of Fargo with branch operations in Bismarck, Sioux Falls, Billings and later Minneapolis. In 1991 they sold the business and retired.
Throughout his earlier years he enjoyed playing sports, especially softball, baseball, basketball and football. He and Bertha loved going to the lakes, fishing, working at their cabin on Star Island, Cass Lake, and being with his family. He was an active member of St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church, serving on many committees throughout the years.
He is survived by his wife Bertha, two sons Peter Jr (Cris), Billings, MT, Michael, Chicago, IL; brother, Adam, St. Paul, MN; five grandchildren, Derek (Amy) Schuck, Minneapolis, MN, Theresa Schafer, Fargo, ND, Mateja, Aloysius, Franz Schuck, Chicago, IL; three great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Garret and Grace.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Madeline, daughter-in-law, Lojzka, granddaughter-in-law, Lori.
There will be a prayer service on Sunday, January 10 at 6pm in St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church, Moorhead with visitation starting at 4:15 in the church.
There will be a funeral mass on Monday, January 11 at 11am in St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church , Moorhead with visitation 1 hour prior to the service in the church.
