Randal "Randy" Waldo

Randal (Randy) Scott Waldo, 59, of Sheyenne, ND passed away on August 23, 2017 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo surrounded by his loved ones. Randy was born on June 5, 1958 to Marvin and Kay (Enstad) Waldo in Devils Lake, ND. He grew up on the family farm by Tolna, ND. He graduated from Tolna H.S. in 1976. In 1980 he began a 23 marriage to Melane Kraft. They made their home in rural Tolna, and Valley City where he graduated from Valley City State with a degree in Secondary Education in 1991. Moving back to the Tolna area , Randy worked his farm, and taught vocational agriculture in Sheyenne, H.S. and Dakota Prairie. From 2003 until his death he remained in the Lake Region Area and making his home in Sheyenne. Most recently he worked construction and as a “Know it all” handi-man. In 2015 Randy became reacquainted with Cory Basol and a special relationship developed. Being a gun lover, he collected guns over the years. He enjoyed hunting and spent many hours sighting in guns, participating in shooting competitions with friends and planning deer camp. Randy was an avid reader and his favorite was louis L’amour westerns. He enjoyed playing board games (aggravation) and card games (pinochle). Randy loved storytelling and was quick to strike up conversations with people he knew and those he didn’t. He loved teasing people. You knew Randy liked you if his compliments were riddled with sarcasm. Randy was a proud grandpa and enjoyed spending time with his grandkids. Randy is survived by his sons, James (Mary Wald), Mandan, ND and Dustin (Madison Heck) Tolna, ND; grandchildren, Cole, Quentin, Tenley, Pearl, Briggs, McKayla, Trevor, Moxon, and Kaylis Waldo; sisters, Ann Marie (Dave Tice SR) Waldo, Minnewaukan, ND, Ronda Sue (Randy Scholl) Devils Lake, ND; brother, Todd (Sue Swenson) Waldo, Grand Forks, ND; and his girlfriend, Cory Basoc of Fargo, ND. He is preceded in death by his son, Nicholas Waldo, brother, Daniel Waldo, and parents Marvin and Kay Waldo. Funeral Services will be held September 9, 2017 at 4:30 p.m. at Sigdal Lutheran Church, Tolna, ND. A family prayer service will be held at 10:30.
