Richard "Dick" Wentz

Richard ?Dick? J. Wentz passed away Sunday, May 29, 2005 at his home in Fargo. Richard was born in Rugby, ND on May 24, 1935. He was the eldest of six children born to Valentine and Aloysia Wentz. Richard grew up and attended school in Minnewaukan, ND. He served in the US Army from 1954 to 1956. From 1956 to 1968, he worked with the Agricultural Soil Conservation Service and later farmed in the New Rockford, ND area where he was also involved in several area businesses. In 1975, Richard was appointed to and served upon a statewide board that researched weather modification. In 1989, Richard underwent a heart transplant at the University of Minnesota. He lived nearly 16 years after receiving his heart transplant, making him one of the University?s longest surviving heart recipients. Richard was preceded in death by his father, Valentine. He is survived by his mother, Aloysia Wentz of Hutchinson, MN; two sons, Kevin Wentz and Todd Wentz, both of Dallas, TX; his long time companion, Sue Wagner of Fargo; three grandchildren, Alexandra, Thomas and Zachary Wentz; sisters, Dorothy March of Eureka, IL, Rosemary Schultz of Hutchinson, MN, Carol Fleming of Orlando, FL, Elizabeth Watson of Ft. Bridge, WY and his brother, Dan Wentz of Charlotte, NC. The Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, June 2 at 10:30 am in Holy Cross Catholic Church, West Fargo. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass on Thursday and also on Wednesday from 4-7 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm in Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo.
