Richard Gary Myers, 69, rural Walcott, ND, died peacefully in the arms of Jesus, his Lord and Savior, on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at Eventide Nursing Home in Moorhead under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. He was born on March 6, 1946 to Richard and Hazel (Driggens) Myers in Morris, MN. Richard grew up on the family farm near Hancock where he attended school. From the time he was little, he was out driving tractors and helping his dad and Uncle Bill in the fields. In 1967, he moved to the Twin Cities where he got a job working for the 8th Street Tire Company and it was there he met Diane Carol Huss, the love of his life and future wife. On August 26, 1967 Richard and Diane were united in marriage at Dwight, ND. The couple made their home in Hancock, MN where he was employed at Hancock Concrete Products. From there, they moved to Fergus Falls, MN where Richard did construction work. The couple then moved to Fargo and raised their three children until 1996 when they moved to rural Walcott. Richard was employed at Larson Welding and Machine for 36 years until retiring due to illness. Richard was a very gifted handyman who was skilled in woodworking, machining, mechanics, and many other fields. He loved spending time in his shop building and doing mechanical work; and also enjoyed the outdoors. Richard loved Medora and the ruggedness of the country; he and Diane spent many summer vacations there. He also loved volunteering and working there for a week during the summer. They also enjoyed traveling to Branson, MO and the Ozarks. Richard loved his family and showed his love by doing many things for them. Diane and Richard attended West Prairie Free Church in rural Kindred. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Diane; children, Karla (Mike) Jostad, Eric (Paula) Myers, and Jeremy Myers; siblings, Darlene (Rich) Pool, JoAnn Myers, Roberta Myers, Judy Myers, Janel Myers, and Donna (Greg Christopher) Schumacher; grandchildren, Joshua Stigman, Aaron Jostad, Lacey Jostad, Reid Myers, and Logan Myers; and was awaiting a great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents. There will be a visitation from 2-4:00 PM with a prayer service following at 4:00 PM on Sunday, October 18, 2015 at Fredrikson-Boulger Funeral Chapel, Kindred.
