Richard A. (Rick) Pierce, 48, Abercrombie, North Dakota, formerly of Fargo, North Dakota, died Monday, August 25, 2003 in Meritcare Hospital, Fargo. Richard A. (Rick) Pierce was born to Alvin H. and Mary Pierce on August 9, 1955. He grew up in Fargo and graduated from Fargo South High School in 1974. He then attended the North Dakota State School of Science at Wahpeton, North Dakota where he studied Architectural Drafting and Estimating and participated on the wrestling team. Richard A. Pierce and Deborah J. Rheault were married at the Church of the Nativity in Fargo on August 15, 1975. They moved to Atlantic, Iowa where he worked at Midway Distributing for a time before returning to Fargo in October of 1977. Rick then worked for Twin City Construction of Fargo as Assistant Manager of the Truss Plant. In 1985 he started Fargo Truss Systems with 3 partners. In 1992 Rick started Northland Truss Systems and was currently owner and manager of the Abercrombie and Fargo, North Dakota locations. They lived in Fargo until March of 2001 when they moved to Abercrombie, North Dakota. Rick enjoyed hunting and made many trips to Montana and western North Dakota to hunt, as well as a trip to Alaska for moose. Rick also loved classic cars. He and Deb traveled with their cars to multiple car shows each summer. He is survived by his wife, Deborah, Abercrombie; children, Melissa (Matthew) Meyer, Appleton, MN, and Daniel Pierce, Fargo; three grandchildren, Mason Meyer, Merrick Meyer, and McKynzie Meyer; his father, Alvin H. Pierce, West Fargo, ND; his brother and sisters, Cheryl Pierce, West Fargo, Carol (Ronald) Cich, West Fargo, Alvin W. (Bill) (Betty) Pierce, Fargo, and Susan Pierce, Circle Pines, MN. Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Church of the Nativity Prayer Service: 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Boulger Funeral Home Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Boulger Funeral Home Arrangements by Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo.
