Rita C. (Carbonneau) Anderson, 89, of Fargo, ND (formerly of Hankinson, ND, Salem, OR, Jamestown, ND and Dunseith, ND) died June 25, 2013. She was a resident of Bethany Homes in Fargo, ND.

In celebration of her life a visitation and rosary will be held starting at 12:00 PM followed by a mass at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 710 10th Street South, Fargo, ND with Father Thomas Paulraj presiding. The burial will be in Marion, ND.

Rita was born on May 2, 1924, the daughter of Emery and Camille (Labreaque) Carbonneau. She grew up on a farm in the rural community of, then, St. Paul of Tarsus, Bottineau County. She attended a one room school in Lordsburg Township. She continued her education at Notre Dame Academy in Willow City, ND and graduated from high school in Bottineau, ND.

On September 15, 1942 Rita was married to Edgar L. Anderson in Oakland, California while he was serving in the Air Force during WWII. After the war, the couple moved to Dunseith, ND where they purchased the Gamble Store. They also lived in Jamestown, ND, Salem, OR, Hankinson, ND and Fargo, ND.

Rita was an active volunteer with Boy Scouts, St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, and Bethany Homes. She was a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Dunseith, ND and a member of the VFW.

Rita is preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Anderson, her son, Mark, her parents and grandparents and her brother, Emery.

Survivors include her son, Gerald (Gerry) Anderson of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Mitch Anderson, Dubuque, IA, Ryan Anderson (Amy) of St. Louis Park, MN; two great-grandchildren, Christopher and Tyler; sister, Cecile Marchand, Kenosha, WI; sister-in-law, Carol Carbonneau; and many nieces and nephews.

  1. Hankinson/Kindred Gerry, I visited with Rita the first week of June and she talked happily of you coming to ND
    for a trip you had planned to go to Jamestown. She was talkative, sweet and content, and she always had a smile for me, as we talked of my kids while she so clearly recalled all the details of each. I will miss my dear friend and neighbor. I am sorry for your loss.

  2. Fargo N. Dak.I want to extend my sympathy on loss of your Mother Rita, I am in 203 across the hall and we ate at the same table. She was very quiet and I notice she was not eating much the last day

  3. Kenosha WII will really miss my sister and wish I could have come to her funeral. I cherish all the good visits, in person, and also by phone. She will be in my prayers until we meet again.
