Rita Jean Dahlen, 50, Dilworth, MN, passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Sanford Health.  She was born on October 15, 1964 to Rodney and Ruth (Hexom) Nesemeier in Moorhead, MN.  She grew up in Fargo and graduated from Fargo South High School.  Rita then attended NDSU where she earned a degree in psychology. 

On November 24, 1984 she was united in marriage to Allen Dahlen at First United Methodist Church in Fargo.  The couple lived in Sioux Falls, Grand Forks, and Fargo. 

She made her home in Moorhead, MN where she raised her son, Matthew.  Rita worked at Target and was later employed at US Bank until 2009. 

Rita loved animals and had a special place in her heart for dogs.  She was a strong supporter of 4 Luv of Dog Rescue and fostered many of them over the years.  Collecting and refurbishing antiques was one of her favorite hobbies.  Rita was an excellent cook and loved trying new recipes.  She especially enjoyed preparing meals for her friends and family.

She is survived by her son, Matthew Dahlen; parents, Rodney and Ruth Nesemeier; siblings, Rick (Joy) Nesemeier, Ranae (David) Oxton, Ronda Nesemeier, Patty Gross; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lee and Amanda Nesemeier, and Carlot and Olive Hexom.
