Rita Ruud

Rita L. Ruud, 63, Fargo passed away Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Sanford Health, Fargo after a short, but heroic battle with cancer.
Rita was born October 30, 1952 to Arnold and Rose (Martin) Ruud. Rita graduated from Shanley High School in 1970. She went on to attend and graduate from North Dakota State University with a degree in Bio-Sciences. She worked for the USDA Research Lab in Fargo until her passing.
Rita always loved being around children especially her niece, nephew and great-niece and nephews. She loved animals especially horses. She loved to draw, write and garden.
She is survived by her mother, Rose, Fargo; brothers, Arne Ruud, Golden, CO, Bob (Susan) Ruud, Harwood, ND; niece, Dr. Amanda Carvahlo, Fargo, ND, nephew, Brian Ruud, Harwood, ND and 1 great-niece and 2 great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Arnold in 1985.
Funeral Service: 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo with visitation starting at 9:00 A.M.
Burial: Holy Cross Cemetery North, Fargo.

Rita Ruud worked with my husband, Roger Leopold, at the Biosciences Laboratory. I remember stories about her love of horses. May the perpetual light shine upon her.

We were saddened to hear.of Rita’s passing. I worked with Rita way back in her early student days at the lab and later when she worked with John. I will remember her quiet sense of humor and the always enjoyable annual milkweed seed picking trips one day each year. I will remember her love for her horses and the straw in her hair. That was Rita. Our thoughts are with you, Rose, and your family.
Rita was a dedicated coworker, giving 40 years of service to our country’s research efforts. Her ways were quiet and her humor unique. Few people strive to continue their education later in life, yet Rita did so. She was a good and admirable person who’s time on earth ended to soon. I pray that God will comfort you at this most difficult time of loss.
I was so sorry to read about Rita’s passing. I did not know her well, but we both exercised thoroughbreds at the C-Flat Farm north of Fargo, ND years ago. Our connection was purely through our love of horses. We rode together, early hours of the morning and spoke little. Occasionally, we made contact as our horses ran side by side on a 1/4-mile track. No words necessary… Such a loss…
