Robert “Bob” Donald Mordecai Born October 16, 1929, in Boston, Massachusetts died in Fargo, North Dakota on September 22, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lazarus “Leonard” and Sarah “Sally” (Segal) Mordecai, brother Daniel Mordecai, and his wife, Joreen DeVere (Herrold) Mordecai. He is survived by his daughter, Rev. Leslie Mahraun, her husband, Daniel Mahraun, both of Kailua-Kona, HI, and grandson, Benjamin Mordecai, of Fargo; son, Don Mordecai, his wife, Cindy, grandchildren, Lauren, Hayley and Traeven, all of Norton, KS, and granddaughter Kelsey, also of Kailua-Kona; sister, Ruth Mordecai, her husband Ed Powers, of Gloucester, MA; sister-in-law, Janet Mordecai, of Denver, CO; a multitude of dear and loving family friends, too many to mention, but all treasured and adored. A 1951 graduate of Ripon College, WI, he proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He took immense pride in his children’s and grandchildren’s careers and accomplishments. A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held at 10:00am, Thursday, September 24, 2015, at St. John Lutheran Church, Fargo, where he was a member, and where his daughter served as pastor from 2010 to 2012. Bob will be remembered for his wit, lively storytelling, and his deep and abiding faith in God. He will be missed.
