Robert ?Bob? Kanwischer Fargo, North Dakota Bob passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2006, at his home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley and his loving family, at the age of 75. Bob was born on December 13, 1930, in Bordulac, North Dakota, the son of Christ and Dora (Wachtel) Kanwischer. He grew up in this area and attended Haven #1 School and later Carrington High School. After his schooling he farmed near Carrington. Bob proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict where he was stationed in Berlin, Germany. Upon his discharge he returned to North Dakota where he first attended Interstate Business College and later North Dakota State University. Bob was united in marriage to Kathryn Sauvageau on December 19, 1959, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fargo. Together they made their home in Fargo where they raised their family. Bob worked many years for the United States Postal Service in Fargo as a postal clerk, retiring in 1992. Bob is survived by his wife, Kathryn of Fargo; his sons, Gary Kanwischer of Eagan, Minnesota; Scott (Maureen) Kanwischer of Superior, Colorado; his daughter, Wanda Kanwischer of Eagan; and his grandsons, Alex and Sam Kanwischer of Eagan. Also surviving are his siblings, Adeline Walen of Carrington; Emma (Ervin) Schultz of Skokie, Illinois; Henry (Mary) Kanwischer of Jamestown, North Dakota; Mabel Duntley of Richardson, Texas; Elsie Veen of Carrington; Donna (Donald) Young of Eugene, Oregon; Donald Kanwischer of Greensboro, North Carolina; and Dennis (Connie) Kanwischer of Jamestown; several nieces and nephews; and his father in law, O.J. Sauvageau of Fargo. Memorials are preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley or to Messiah Lutheran Church.
