Obituary

Robert ( Bob ) Charles McKinnon, 80 of Fargo, ND passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2020.

Bob was born July 4th, 1940 in Fargo, ND to Agnes and Arthur McKinnon. Bob grew up in Grandin, North Dakota where he graduated from high school. Following High School, he enlisted in the Army National Guard. When he completed his enlistment, he worked for Schultz & Lindsay Construction Company. He attended Collage in Wahpeton, North Dakota and at Moorhead State University, Moorhead, Minnesota while married to Shari Willison. Bob worked for Red Owl before turning his experience into a self employed trucking company. Bob and Shari built and managed a bar in Grandin, North Dakota called Mac’s I-29, now known as County Line Bar & Grill. Eventually, he settled in Dent, Minnesota where he grew trees and worked on his favorite project of converting a century old barn into his home on Star Lake. He enjoyed taking his family on camping trips with a converted van. He also looked forward to annual Muskie fishing trips in Canada. Bob had quiet a talent for music. He loved to play his guitar for family and friends who remember Bob sitting in the back yard, playing his guitar and singing favorites such as “Bill Grogens Goat” and “Froggy went a courtin”.

Bob is survived by his daughter, Shelby (Francis) Gallagher of Fargo, North Dakota and his son, Matthew ( Shelly ) McKinnon of Brainard, Minnesota.; his brother Doug (Sue) McKinnon of Woodbury Minnesota; his sister Kay (Dan Gatzske) of Rippon, Wisconsin, and a half brother Allen ( Peggy ) Hagen of Grandin, North Dakota. Bob enjoyed his 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Agnes and Arthur McKinnon.

A private family burial will take place at the Argusville Cemetery this fall with a celebration of life event to be announced at a later time for the summer of 2021.

    I cannot even begin to understand what you’re going through right now, but I would like to offer my prayers and condolences. I was blessed to have known him for a short time. He will stay in my memory as a sweet, kind, polite man who would always offer to carry something or hold the door for me. May you rest in everlasting peace Bob. Daisy and I will miss you.
