Robert W. McKelvey, age 80, Moorhead, MN, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2005, in MeritCare Palliative Care, Fargo. Robert was born March 15, 1925, in Staples, MN, the son of Homer and Agnes (Doyle) McKelvey. He grew up in Staples and graduated from Staples High School. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and served in the Philippines and South Pacific during World War II. Following the war, Robert moved to Wahpeton, ND. He graduated from the North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton. He then began working for Hoppert=s Plumbing & Heating in Wahpeton. On January 30, 1947, Robert was united in marriage to Elizabeth Eymann in Wahpeton. They made their home in Wahpeton until moving to Moorhead in 1957. They have since resided in Moorhead. He worked as a Union steamfitter for the Local 300 until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree, and the Moorhead Veterans of Foreign Wars club. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth of Moorhead; six children, Pat (Darold) Larson of Fargo, Deb McKelvey of Jamestown, ND, Steve (Val) McKelvey of Maple Grove, MN, Tom (Anita) McKelvey of Bayport, NY, Dan (Sharon) McKelvey of Grafton, WI, and Carmen McKelvey of Plymouth, MN; 16 grandchildren; and triplet great grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers, Doug (Gail) of Fort Worth, TX, Jack (Judy) of Clear Lake, MN, and Richard (Audrey) of Roseville, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Janetta Talley in 1975. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, or the American Cancer Society. The funeral will be Monday at 10:00 AM in St. Mary=s Cathedral, Fargo. A prayer service will be held Sunday at 7:00 PM in Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Sunday in Boulger Funeral Home and in the church on Monday one hour prior to services. Burial will be in St. Joseph=s Cemetery in Moorhead, MN.
