Rock Jordahl

rock jordahl

Rock Alan Jordahl, 56, was born to Harold and Lorna (Goplen) Jordahl April 4, 1956 in Moorhead, MN. He passed away peacefully at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital on Memorial Day, May 28th, 2012 surrounded by his family after an arduous battle with cancer.

Rocky served as a fleet sailor in the United States Navy for 20 years and retired at the rank E6 Machinist Mate. Over the course of his career, he was deployed for 11 tours in the Middle East along with numerous state-side assignments.  His generosity was evident in the many gifts he presented to his family following each of his many travels.

Rocky was naturally proficient in all his endeavors. He was an avid Nascar fan and an auto enthusiast. He liked watching western movies and anything on the History channel, but he mostly enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Upon retirement from the military he resided in Horace, ND until his death. He was fiercely loyal to his mother, and his four sisters and their families.

He is survived by his mother Lorna and step-father Ken Johnson, Sr.; Sisters:  Debra (Jim) McCullough, Centerville, GA; Kathi (Dan) Trottier, rural Horace, ND; Gayle Kerkow (Richard Cutler), Collinsville, CT; Pam (Richard) Lewis, Vergas, MN, Nieces/Nephew:  Shanda (Denny) Gustafson, Fargo, ND; Robin (Ted) Bailey, Olympia, WA; Tracy (Jeremy) Tjon, Moorhead, MN; Travis (Kyann) Lewis, Audubon, MN; Mandi Walker (Nick Ludowese); Nichole (Shannon) Shell, Glyndon, MN; Erin (Alan) Moody, Fort Rucker, AL; and 18 great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.

Rock’s family would like to thank the staff and the Palliative Care Unit of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Fargo with a special thanks to Judy Knudson, MS, PA.

  14. Madison NERocky will be fondly remembered and missed! Our families shared in many gatherings, parties, and visits to my parents’ dairy farm, as well as visits to North Dakota
for graduations, and events. When Rocky and his siblings would come to my parent’s farm in rural MN
in the summertime, we would ride horses, play outside, and just hang out, maybe even found ourselves in a little trouble. But we had fun! We enjoyed spending time with our cousins. I lost track of Rocky over the past few years, I regret that I did not keep in touch with him.

I’m keeping his family in my prayers!

  15. Enfield CTMy greatest sympathies to my best friend Gayle, Rocks sister and family.
May you find peace now and no pain.

    ~Robert Ingersoll once wrote…
