Rodell Lee, 83, Fargo, formerly Kindred, ND passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Essentia Health in Fargo. Rodell was born November 24, 1934 in Kindred, ND to Ted and Alpha (Otterson) Lee. He attended Riverside School through 8th grade, graduating from Kindred High School in 1952. He graduated from Concordia College Moorhead in 1956, with a degree in Mathematics. He also pursued his interest in music at Concordia, and was a member of the concert band. Following graduation, Rodell enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany, where he was a sharpshooter. He later served in the Army Reserves. Rodell returned from overseas to marry Diane Childs on December 20, 1958. They made their home on a farm in Kindred, ND, where he farmed his family’s land. He enjoyed teaching math and music in Davenport, Walcott, and Leonard schools. Rodell was also a licensed insurance agent for Modern Woodmen of America until retirement. Music, gambling, motorcycles, photography, and philosophical debate were Rodell’s passions. He was a member of the Golden Notes, performing at community events as recently as this year. Rodell was also a lifelong member of both Gol and Kindred Lutheran Churches. Rodell was active in the lives of his children and grandchildren. He loved attending all of their various activities, and together with Diane they were enthusiastic and loyal fans. Rodell is survived by his wife, Diane, and children, Randy (Karen) Lee, Daniel (Ruth) Lee, and Troy (Sondra) Lee. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Jennifer Lee, David Lee, Dustin Lee, Anna Lee, Jacob Lee and Jordan Lee; sister Bonnie Snortum and nieces Sonja (Andrew) Dominguez and Ann (Kai) Hansen. Rodell was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, John Snortum. Memorials may be made to Kindred Lutheran Church or Perhus Cemetery.

Condolences to Diane, Randy, Danny, Troy and your families, Rodell was our music teacher in Leonard and he was the one who taught me how to play the trumpet which is what my father and Rodell both played by choice, he was a very kind, patient and gracious man and I have nothing but good memories of him all those years ago, {it was 1970 when those lessons started} Mark & Mary[Wilson] Nesemeier Leonard N.D.

  10. Diane, Randy and Karen, sending many prayers your way as I was sorry to hear of Rodell’s passing. I graduated with Randy from KHS. I remember the Lee family always in attendance at Kindred Lutheran as my family joined too. I so appreciated the video pictures you lovingly shared with us. No wonder where Randy for one got his musical talents. Prayers to you and your family as he will be missed.
